👋 Meet Katy | Scheme Administrator

From keeping multiple schemes moving to helping with quoting, MCS compliance and answering the phones, Katy is one of the people helping to keep everything organised behind the scenes at REM.

She works across the E.ON and YES Energy schemes, making sure the admin and compliance side of things stays on track.

Katy also has a couple of other contributions to office life…

🍰 She’s the office baker, regularly bringing in her homemade treats — with her raspberry crumble breakfast bars apparently a particular favourite.

🐾 And then there’s Buzz, her pug and occasional four-legged member of the REM office team.

So if you call REM, there’s a chance Katy will be one of the voices at the other end — and if you visit the office, Buzz might be there to say hello too. 🐶

☀️ Another REM installation completed in Broompark, Durham.

This system includes 20 x 460W solar panels, delivering 9.2kW of solar capacity, alongside a 10kWh battery to store more of the energy generated by the home.

It’s the details that make the difference too. The panels have been installed using a black roof mounting system, chosen to sit more discreetly against the slate roof, with bird protection mesh fitted as standard.

"Solar panels don't work in winter."

❌ Myth.

Solar panels continue generating electricity throughout the year, including during the winter months.

While shorter days mean they'll usually produce less electricity than in summer, they still work whenever there's daylight. Bright, cool days can even be excellent conditions for solar generation.

If you’ve ever called REM, there’s a good chance Josh was one of the first people you spoke to.

But answering the phone is only a small part of what he does. Behind the scenes, Josh looks after designs and annotated floor plans, compliance across NAPIT, IAA and MCS, and customer contact for both domestic and commercial work.

He’s also become a bit of a go-to person for just about everything at REM. Give him something that needs organising, a system that needs creating or a tech problem that needs figuring out, and chances are Josh will turn his hand to it.

Apparently, that remit also extends to keeping the office plants alive. 🌱😂

As Josh put it himself:

“Overall jack of all trades.”

"Solar panels need constant cleaning and maintenance."

❌ Myth.

One of the biggest advantages of solar panels is how little maintenance they need.

In the UK, rainfall naturally helps keep most roof-mounted panels clean, so there's very little for homeowners to do. Depending on where you live, you may choose to have them cleaned occasionally, but regular maintenance isn't usually required.

Once installed, your solar panels are designed to quietly generate electricity for decades with very little ongoing attention.
