Hands-on from the top 👷‍♂️☀️

Damon Clark, Managing Director, and Jordon Swales, Operations Director, were out on site with the REM team this week.

Damon looks after the managing, business development and client side of REM, while Jordon leads operations and delivery.

Different roles, same approach: stay close to the job, the team and the customer.

As REM continues to grow, it matters that the people making the decisions are still close to the work being delivered.

REM Myth Busters with Eve | Myth #10
“Solar won’t save me any money.”

❌ Myth.

Solar panels can reduce the amount of electricity you need to buy from the grid, which can lower your electricity bills. The amount you save depends on factors including how much solar electricity you use yourself, whether you receive export payments, and where in the UK you live.

☀️ Generate your own renewable electricity
🔋 Store excess energy to use later with a battery
📉 Reduce the amount of electricity you need to buy from the grid
⚡ You may also receive payments for eligible electricity exported back to the grid through the Smart Export Guarantee.

Energy Saving Trust’s current examples show solar panel payback periods of around 9–12 years, depending on location and how the electricity is used, with export payments included. Actual savings and payback will vary from household to household.

So the myth isn’t whether solar can save money, the real question is how much could solar save you?

👋 Meet Katy | Scheme Administrator

From keeping multiple schemes moving to helping with quoting, MCS compliance and answering the phones, Katy is one of the people helping to keep everything organised behind the scenes at REM.

She works across the E.ON and YES Energy schemes, making sure the admin and compliance side of things stays on track.

Katy also has a couple of other contributions to office life…

🍰 She’s the office baker, regularly bringing in her homemade treats — with her raspberry crumble breakfast bars apparently a particular favourite.

🐾 And then there’s Buzz, her pug and occasional four-legged member of the REM office team.

So if you call REM, there’s a chance Katy will be one of the voices at the other end — and if you visit the office, Buzz might be there to say hello too. 🐶
