Reflections on the way home from work a few weeks ago. Inspired by 5 things:
1) The word 'trust' and how many times I've heard it used recently - by clients, peers, friends.
2)Nature's rich abundance on a moist, vibrant early summer's evening.
3)A quote from the wonderful Csikszentmihalyi (in Dan Pink)..."One cannot lead a life that is truly excellent without feeling that one belongs to something greater / more permanent than oneself"
4) My own sense of needing to let go of clinging to the scarcity mindset and competition for resources of the 'business as usual' achievist world and to trust into emergence and the abundance of the universe.
5) Gratitude to the wonderful people who inspire me in different ways

For those of you more familiar with my work you'll know that it's heavily informed by a body of work called vertical development theory - the understanding (based on research) that as adults we continue to develop through predictable stages of ever expanding conscious capacity. And wherever we find ourselves in our journey of conscious development we have a centre of gravity (our go-to), a leading edge of development (our aspirational self), and a trailing edge (reactive patterns of earlier stages that we regress to under stress).
In this video (from a few weeks ago) I reflect on how this shows up for me in my relationship with nature.

2nd in my series of vlogs - this one prompted by reflections on my time as a world class athlete, the achievist mindset vs slowing down, our relationship to the earth and the state of being that is the wellspring for truly transformative leadership.

I wonder - is there so much urgency in your state of being and so many competing demands on your attention that a 3 min video will be too long for you to reflect on slowing down?

The 1st in my vlog series on becoming more mature humans inspired by the natural world.

There’s a lot about Christmas that I love. The twinkly lights in the darkness; the sense of restoration and retreat; valuing and celebrating togetherness; the increase in volunteering and charitable activity it engenders.

It's been very quiet from me here for a while........
I've been listening to the silence...

Sanctuaries of Silence is an immersive listening journey into Olympic National Park, one of the quietest places in North America. A virtual reality film by Emergence Magazine staff filmmakers Adam Loften and Emmanuel Vaughan-Lee.

How about this weekend you "begin by listening to yourself?".....A beautiful read.

How about this weekend you "begin by listening to yourself?".....A beautiful read.

When we think we already know what there is to hear, we are simply moving a little too fast to really listen—That's where meditation comes in.

Informed by my own struggle with how I relate to the , some thoughts on how truly transformational coaching has to be working with both the leading and trailing edges of a person's development.

Transformational coaching must work with both the leading and trailing edges of a client’s development. My own response to the climatecrisis as an example.

Our world desperately needs leaders to transform the way we do business. On this, climate strike day, my latest thinking on cultivating the leadership for the future of our world.

We need leaders at the "strategist" stage of conscious development to lead the evolution of human enterprise and ensure the future of our planet.

A beautiful poem by a colleague of mine....

An Anxious Perception

Sharing your thoughts is so very hard to do
When there are so many people judging you
When there’s no right or wrong, just a sea of ideas
How do ‘they’ stand tall
rise up
hold court
with no fear?
Sharing your thoughts is so hard to do
When there are many people judging you
The angst of rejection, humiliation, spoken error
Uncertainty and self doubt
hang there
When you just want to share
your mind
your ideas
Sharing your thoughts is hard to do
When there are people judging you
To rise up, hold court yourself with no fear
is a leap too far
hold back
stay silent
It’s the norm to reflect and consider
Think - doubt - decide
Say this - don’t say that… just want to hide
Sharing your thoughts is so hard to do
When there is just you… judging you.
