A recent HSE prosecution has highlighted serious risks associated with using ladders/stepladders in the workplace, after a worker suffered broken ribs when a stepladder collapsed.

Ladders and stepladders may be common pieces of workplace equipment, but they still need to be used correctly.

Employees who use ladders should understand:

➡️When a ladder is suitable for the task
➡️The hazards associated with ladder use
➡️How to carry out appropriate pre-use check
➡️How to position and set up a ladder safely
➡️How to use ladders and stepladders safely

Effective training, combined with suitable risk assessments, supervision and properly maintained equipment can help prevent accidents.

Some of team HRSS completed The Kiltwalk Mighty Stride on Sunday 26th April, taking on the challenge of walking 23 miles from Glasgow Green to Balloch, Loch Lomond, to raise funds for Kilbryde Hospice.

I think we have just about recovered! Thank you to all who donated to us, it is greatly appreciated. 💙
