Octopus Energy pay a total of £1.5m to former prepayment meter customers due to a failure to issue final bills

https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/decision/octopus-energy-pay-total-ps15m-former-prepayment-meter-customers-due-failure-issue-final-bills

A case was opened against Octopus after the self-report of another supplier led Ofgem to believe that Octopus may not be compliant. Ofgem has worked to ensure that credit balances were returned to customers, together with GSOP compensation payments and an additional level of redress to recognise the impact of not receiving credit balances and GSOP payments on time. Where it was not possible to trace a customer, Octopus has agreed to make payments to the Energy Industry Voluntary Redress Fund (EIVRS). The fund is administered by the Energy Saving Trust, which has been appointed by Ofgem to distribute payments from the fund to help support energy consumers in vulnerable situations.

Since 2016, Octopus Energy Ltd did not send a final bill to the majority of prepayment meter customers within 6 weeks of the supplier transfer or termination of the Domestic Supply Contract.

Comments from Clients keep identifying;
-Back billing failures by utility suppliers
-Suppliers lying over the telephone to business customers
-Data corruption and errors by Utility suppliers
-Failures by OfGem and the Energy Ombudsman to not prosecute and ban utility staff from the utility industry for criminality

If you have an issue with your utility industry.
Contact your utility supplier, tell them you are recording the call for legal purposes, provide this to the Press, go to dead-lock with the Supplier, record down the name and surname of all utility managers involved. Reporting failures changes the industry.

OfGem has changed its page to Energy Aware.
-Not aware that the U.K. pays the highest amount in utility costs in Europe.
-Not aware that OfGem ignored banning Gazprom-SESE from the U.K. after the invasion of Ukraine.
-Not aware that prices have been monopolised and market linked, ignoring the tertiary fuel sources.
-Not aware to not help consumers and business customers with utility disputes.

Energy4 currently provides very competitive prices for the market.
Offering very competitive prices compared to Utility Warehouse.
EDF is not the most competitive supplier on the market at present, there are cheaper alternatives.

Britons are being urged to look into cheaper energy fixes now ahead of future price cap changes.

Energy4 has tirelessly helped many companies over the last 2 years move to move to better suppliers.

At one point Renewable was half the price of Petrochemical prices, which exposes the sheer level profiteering by the whole sale Utility market.

The utility market made every attempt to market link Oil&Gas, Nuclear, and Renewable prices together even though there tertiary supplies are independent from one another.
This is a clear attempt at monopoly practices, especially not being transparent and cutting of supply contracts with smaller white label providers who have all gone under.

Many customers did move, however a small percentage did not and now have financial issues.
What they did say over and over again was they listened to TV celebrity Martin Lewis.

https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2021/10/martin-lewis---do-nothing--with-your-energy-supplier/

Martin Lewis who repeatedly said “Do nothing” with your energy supply and go on to the price cap when your deal ends - there's nothing cheaper available, is now u-turning and telling customers they are going to have price increases.

During this period, there were many good prices, I supplied these to my customers. These good prices have been emitted from comparison websites.

https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2022/03/energy-price-hikes-is-now-time-to-fix/

Martin Lewis has made a claim of why prices have gone up, but no supporting evidence.
The claim relates to Ukraine, which is odd as Ukraine was invaded in 2014.
The U.K. only buys 5% of Gas from Russia, the rest comes from countries we are allied with, and are not in a cycle of conflict or war. Therefore any comment about price rises relating to Ukraine needs to be supported with evidence.

The only evidence found is the Oil&Gas industry is trying to recover the high cost of vessel usage during covid-19.
However this does not explain high nuclear and high renewable costs.

Nuclear material is purchased in bulk every 10 years, and last time I checked we are not paying for a Wind God “Sidhe” to provide wind.

Martin Lewis has now ended making any comment on utilities, he has now moved to the “no more tools” comment by asking the public to look at;
- Wrong tax code
- Apply for the marriage tax allowance
- See if you were mis-sold PPI

The money saving expert issued the warning while appearing on the Sunday Politics Show

13/03/2022

All business owners must keep gas and electricity meter readings for the March 31st. Regardless of what type of meter you have, smart or otherwise. Ideally a photo of both meters showing the readings and meter serial number.

Submit the meter reading to your energy supplier right away. If for whatever reason you can't submit that day. You have photos as evidence of meter readings and the date they were taken. It's going to be a very busy day for suppliers and you might not be able to submit readings that day.

Why does everyone need to do this?

As most people now know, on 1st April 2022, the new OFGEM energy price cap comes into force. This means much higher energy rates for millions of people. It's incredibly important therefore suppliers are not given the opportunity to charge energy units used at the old lower rates before 1st April 2022, at the newer higher price caps rates after 1st April 2022
