WHAT WOULD YOU DO ??

10:55 PM – Queue check with metal detector
While using a handheld wand at the entrance, you detect something metallic at a male’s waistband. He becomes tense and says, “It’s nothing, just my belt.”
Alarm sounds each time the wand passes his waistband.

His clothing is loose and conceals his mid‑section
He avoids eye contact and becomes argumentative
Venue policy: no weapons; police to be called if a weapon is suspected

What course of action would you take ??

A. Ignore the alarm and allow him in to avoid confrontation.
B. Ask for consent to conduct a further search in line with policy, and if you still suspect a weapon, refuse entry and inform control/police.
C. Grab his waistband immediately and pull the item out in the street.
D. Ask him to hand over the item but still allow him to enter.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO??

11:15 PM – Familiar face at the door
You recognise a man who was involved in a serious fight at the venue last month and was banned by management. He approaches in the queue with new friends and says: “Come on mate, that was ages ago, I’ve calmed down.”
Incident report last month recorded his details and ban
Tonight he appears calm and sober
His friends insist “he’s changed” and start to crowd the door
Queue is growing behind them

What course of action do you take??

A. Allow him in but warn him that you are watching him.
B. Politely refuse entry in line with the ban and explain the decision.
C. Let him in if he apologises in front of his friends.
D. Ignore the previous incident because he seems calm tonight.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO???

01:20 AM – Woman alone near the entrance
You notice a young woman sitting on the curb outside the club. She looks distressed and unsteady. A man you do not recognise is trying to persuade her to go around the corner with him.
She appears heavily intoxicated and tearful
She is separated from friends and has no phone visible
The man insists he is “her mate” but cannot give her name
Traffic and late‑night crowds are moving nearby

What’s course of action would you take ??

A. Ignore them – they’re off the premises and not your concern.
B. Ask the man to leave, then check on the woman and move her to a safer area.
C. Shout at both of them to move on immediately.
D. Offer to call them a taxi and leave them together.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO ??

01:45 AM – Near the main bar
Two males begin shouting at each other after a spilled drink. One is posturing and moving into the other’s space, friends are crowding around and filming on their phones.
Voices are raised, aggressive body language
No physical contact yet
Bar staff look worried and step back
Music is loud, but nearby customers are starting to move away

What’s the right course of action?
A. Ignore it until a punch is thrown to avoid “over‑reacting.”
B. Approach with a colleague, use calm communication and separation to de‑escalate.
C. Immediately grab both men in neck holds and drag them out.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO ???

11:45 PM – Four friends reach the front of the queue
One male is clearly unsteady and slurring his words. His friends insist, “He’s fine, we’ll look after him, we always come here.”
Strong smell of alcohol
One male repeatedly stumbles and leans on barriers
Friends are pressuring you to “just let us in”
Crowd and queue are starting to build up behind them

What’s the right course of action?
A. Allow the whole group in but warn them to behave.
B. Allow the three sober friends in, refuse the intoxicated male.
C. Refuse entry to the whole group, explaining the venue’s policy.

Massive congratulations to Lab 22 on being crowned Best Bar in Wales 2026 — for the FOURTH year in a row! 🏆🍸at the class bar awards

An incredible achievement and so well deserved. Huge shoutout to our very own Lee Robbins who travelled with the teams from Penny Cardiff , Lowkey and Nightshade who were all nominated alongside some of the very best in the industry.

Proud to see Welsh hospitality continuing to raise the bar year after year 👏🔥
