When it comes to onboarding....🎵You gotta get with my friends! 🎵

If you want to create a lasting relationship with your client where they feel valued, then hopefully it's no surprise for to know that you need to put the effort in!

Think of it like the relationship you have with your friends - you cultivate trust through your continued attentive actions, and it's always a good idea to start off on the right foot!

👭And what better bunch of friends than the Spice Girls to illustrate my point?!

Not all of these are appropriate for all types of business, but having a mix of at least a couple of them should help make your client feel like they're part of your squad right from the beginning of your onboarding process....

🎁Welcome Gift - Work this into your monthly budget and make sure it's proportionate to the money your client has spent on your offering. Eg, I send my new clients a small box of cookies with 'Welcome' on them and a personalised note

📧Welcome Email - this is the perfect opportunity to share with them how much you value their custom and to let them know everything they need to about about your service/product

📹Personalised video - this doesn't need to be long - a couple of minutes will do, but the impact in terms of building a relationship with your client will be huge. I use mine as an introduction to my working boundaries and include a link to it in my welcome email

👩‍💻Zoom Call - this can be used to help build clarity for both of you as to what to expect from your relationship & the service you're providing

😬What's the biggest challenge you've faced as a small business owner?

🏔For me, it was back in Summer 2020 when I was just starting out - which is why I chose to share this quote - it definitely felt like I was jumping off a cliff at the time!

I had no idea what I was doing & I had no safety net in the form of savings to fall back on. If I couldn't make it work within 4 months I would have been up 💩 creek without a paddle! (I had taken voluntary redundancy from my job in hospitality due to covid)

😟That manifested in me constantly questioning myself, doubting my decisions & ultimately putting a huge amount of pressure on myself. I could feel that pressure externally too.

😊BUT, I trusted my gut & the more I did, the more confident I gradually became - to the point where I had messages in my DMs from ladies asking me about what I did & how they could become a VA themselves.

🙌 I still don't feel confident 100% of the time, but I show up anyway, because one of the massive things I've come to realise is that as business owners, we're constantly learning & taking small steps outside of our comfort zone.

💗It's not always easy, but boy is it worth it. And looking back, I've come so much further than I ever thought I could simply because I kept going. I'm proud of myself & you should be proud of yourself too.

Have you thought any of these were true yourself?

After attending a networking event last week, it's become clear to me that these misconceptions are common, so let me bust them for you...

❌️It's expensive - VA's work for themselves, so you don't have the expense of taking on an employee in the traditional sense & all time spent on paperwork & training that goes with it
❌️You have to sign a big monthly retainer - VAs are there to make your life easier. Whether that's ongoing monthly support, a one off project or more ad hoc help there are lots of options, not just retainers! (Check out my packages highlight for details of how you can work with my team😉)
❌️You'll "lose control" of your business - in fact, the opposite will happen! Chances are, the reason why you're thinking of working with a VA is because you feel like you're chasing your tail a lot of the time. My handing over a task to a VA, you'll have more time to focus on your business, meaning you can strategise more effectively & gain control over the direction you want to move in
❌️Standards will slip - I get it. You don't want to hand work over to a VA to do, because what happens if they don't do it the same way as you? With a VA you're paying for their extensive expertise as well as their time. There's a reason why they specialise in a particular area & that's because they have so much experience in it - if a task usually takes you 5 hours to do, they could do it in half that time & to a very high standard too

As I'm finally starting to emerge (still very sleep deprived!) from my newborn bubble, I thought now was the perfect time to re-introduce myself, what I do & who I'm here for!

I founded fs virtual admin in August 2020 after taking voluntary redundancy from my job working in the hospitality industry.

👩‍💻I knew that after 10+ years of working in customer facing roles, I had the skills to be a great Virtual Assistant & really help other people with my expertise - so I took the leap to work for myself even though I didn't have a safety net. (or a clue what I was doing!) I didn't really have much choice but to make things work though as there were barely any companies hiring back in Summer 2020 cos of Covid.

💗I'm so glad I stuck with it & rode the rollercoaster that is having your own business as it brings me so much joy to see the positive impact I've had on the health & wellness businesses that I've worked with & I have built a small team of associate VAs along the way.
