How an absence of emotional intelligence, amongst other things, contribute to making a toxic workplace.

09/07/2025

We hear it all the time:

"Emotional intelligence is a nice-to-have."
"That’s just soft skills, right?"

Wrong.

EQ isn’t soft — it’s strategic.

In schools, businesses, and leadership teams, emotional intelligence impacts:
Decision-making
Communication
Team dynamics
Resilience under pressure

And unlike personality, it’s a trainable skill — when taught through applied psychology, not pop-coaching or corporate fluff.

At the Wellbeing Training Academy, we specialise in evidence-informed training using emotional intelligence and applied positive psychology. No gimmicks. No generic platitudes.

Just powerful, practical strategies grounded in research — and tailored to real working environments.

Because when you embed EQ in your culture, performance follows.

Curious how it could look in your team?

Why is wellbeing important for teachers?

21/11/2023

A recent survey from TES has revealed a concerning trend in the education sector: our workforce is increasingly stressed and unhappy 😞

📊The survey found that the number of education staff reporting that their workplace has a negative impact on their wellbeing has significantly increased by 38% since 2020. This is a worrying development that highlights the urgent need for more support for teachers.

📉The survey also found that the number of staff saying that their workplace has a positive impact on their wellbeing has declined. This suggests that the factors that contribute to a positive work environment, such as emotionally intelligent leadership, adequate resources, and work life balance, are in decline.

❤️‍🩹The current situation is not sustainable. Our education workforce is facing immense pressure, and this is taking a toll on their mental health and wellbeing.

In order for things to change we must:

Prioritise mental health and wellbeing 🧠
Provide training and resources to help educators manage stress and cope with difficult situations.

Create a supportive work environment 🌱
Encourage open communication, promote teamwork, and provide opportunities for professional development.

Develop emotionally intelligent leaders 🫶
Ensure that leaders understand how to look after their own wellbeing so that they are better placed to support others and provide an environment that promotes wellbeing for all.

At the Wellbeing Training Academy, we recognise the importance of addressing these issues head-on. We believe that every educator deserves to feel supported, valued, and equipped to handle the challenges of their profession.

We offer a range of services to help teachers to manage stress, improve their mental health, and create a more fulfilling work-life balance. Some of these services include:

Stress management workshops
Emotional Intelligence training
Leadership coaching

We encourage all educators to prioritise their wellbeing. By taking care of yourselves, you can better take care of your students and create a positive learning environment for everyone.
