SEO isn’t dead or too complicated to understand, it’s just changed.
Good SEO today is about clarity.
Clear pages, clear structure, and language that real people actually use.
When your website makes sense to a human, it usually makes sense to Google too.
No tricks. No gaming the system. No keyword stuffing anymore. It's all about just helping the right people find you.

Here’s a quick one: can someone land on your homepage and figure out what you do in 5 seconds?

Ask a friend or family member to take a peek at your current website and tell you:
>What you offer
>Who it’s for
>What action to take next

If they can’t or you're getting mixed messages – your homepage might need a tweak. It's also always good to revisit your home page every so often to repeat this exercise to make sure your website is keeping up with your business.

Websites are never finished. A clear, helpful site you keep improving will always beat a ‘perfect’ one hidden from view. Keep adding to it, keep it evolving, make it seasonal, refresh it so customers feel excited coming back for more.

This is a tricky one, because the honest answer is… it varies quite a lot. Go online and do a search and you'll see people offering anything from £49.99 to £50,000+ - it can be a bit infuriating and overwhelming...

A simple brochure-style site is very different from a full online shop. And a shop with a handful of products is very different from one with subscriptions, bundles, and lots going on behind the scenes.

It also depends on what you want your website to do. Is it just there to show you exist, or is it there to actively bring in enquiries and sales?

A good starting point is thinking about your business as a whole and where your website fits into it. From there, it becomes much easier to work out what level of investment makes sense and having a good, open and honest exploratory discussion at the beginning means you can talk about the opportunities that a website can open for your business as well as getting a more accurate quote.

So, the answer to the question (I'm afraid) is...it depends!

Hi there! Let's have a little chat about nailing down your website goals. I know it can feel overwhelming but it's worth the effort, especially if you're thinking about upgrading or getting a new website, it's worth thinking of it now!! Here's my take on how to get it right: What's your website real...

A little throwback to something I really enjoyed doing earlier this year…

I was invited onto the Jewellers Academy podcast to chat about a topic that comes up all the time with my clients – moving from Etsy to your own website.

Anna and I had a really open conversation about that shift. What feels daunting about it, what actually changes behind the scenes, and why having your own site gives you so much more control over your business in the long run.

If you’re currently on Etsy and starting to think about what’s next, it’s definitely worth a listen.

You can find the link via the blog in my profile... and yes, this was my first podcast… I was a little bit excited!

Not every business needs a full website rebuild. Sometimes a focused review and a clear plan is far more effective and far less overwhelming - as long as you have a vision and a plan!!

Why did I start HR Digital Design???

I set up HR Digital Design because I kept seeing other brilliant small businesses struggle with websites that didn’t work for them. I had had my own e-commerce website previously and seen what worked and what didn't work. What worked for a small business with not much time on my hands. What was a hassle and what wasn't!

Small businesses are often trying to DIY everything, or frequently have been let down by designers who just didn't seem to get them or their business.

I wanted to offer something better: clear, honest website help with no jargon, no upselling, and no drama.
Just smart, beautiful websites that feel like you – and, importantly, work for your business.

If you've already been a client then thank you for being part of my why!! I really do love what I do.

This is one of the biggest things that I think holds people back. Lots of people are busy, and a website is just one other thing on that huge long list of things that they've got to get done!

A lot of people think they need all their text written, all their images sorted, and everything fully figured out before they even speak to someone about a website. If you have all this sorted already, then you're doing great, but it's not essential!

What you do need is a good sense of what you offer and who it’s for - what you actually want your website to do for you. From there, I can help you structure things, guide the content, and work out what actually needs to go on each page. If I think you need extra help, I know all the right people to put you in touch with.

Most of my clients don’t come to me with everything ready. If anything, part of the process is helping you get clarity on all of that, and I actually really enjoy this part of the process - we can get stuck into your business, come up with new ideas, and get all excited about a new project together!
