⁣We are thrilled to announce our new husk filling - h**p. We were over the moon to start supplying it from a local producer the H**p North. 💫 Since the British market is overflooded with h**p imported from Europe, Canada and China, the H**p North founders decided to introduce the crops on UK farms.🌱 ⠀
Baring the environment in mind and cultivating a sustainable approach, got us to give a try their products.⠀

So we filled one of our pillows with the h**p, slept on it for a few nights and with total honesty, we can say - it's fantastic! Our bodies love how it adjusts to the shape of the neck, and the subtle nutty smell is a delight to our senses.🤍⠀

And if that wasn't enough, we also ordered some of the h**p hearts that not only are scrumptious addition to our morning smoothie but also a great source of protein, vitamins and minerals. We had tried many plant-based proteins, but H**p North products are a complete game changer.💪🏾⠀

If you love good quality, vegan, local and affordable products, give them a try:⬇️⠀

⁣⁣Summer always makes us slow down and reflect on simplicity. ⠀
Enjoying brighter days we long so much; having favourite fresh fruits for breakfast; or just sitting, sipping morning coffee and giving thanks for being. 🍒☕🌞🌿⠀⠀

⁣'I take my small pillow when I travel as it’s portable and gives me great sleep quality.⠀
I had tried many travel pillows, and I found them too small and soft to sleep comfortably. Your pillow is a complete game-changer.' ⠀

⁣What is your favourite way to rest? Having a nap in the afternoon, stretching your body, closing your eyes and taking few breathes or maybe having a warm cup of tea with your loved one? ☕️💚⠀
Sometimes giving yourself even 5 minutes of rest during a busy day, can recharge your battery, wake up your body and refresh the mind. 💫⠀

In the late 1980s, Francesco Cirillo invented a ‘pomodoro technique’, that breaks up work into 25min intervals separated by short 5min breaks. Thanks to his method, difficult or monotonous subjects seem to be not so overwhelmed but also our brain remembers better what we’ve been just working on. 🧠⠀

Are you going to give it a try?

⁣‘I am delighted with the bolster and pillow. They are so beautifully made and much more substantial than I imagined. I have the pillow in bed with me - it is wonderful for sitting up against the bed frame and working on my computer. Normal pillows sink in but this moulds to my neck and makes it so comfy’.💫⠀

⁣Did you know that…⠀
- Buckwheat flour is well known in India as ‘kuttu ka atta’ and is traditionally used during⠀
the Navaratri festival as a main ingredient of the festive food. 🇮🇳⠀

- Japanese also use buckwheat in their cuisine in a form of noodles called soba. Those who are on gluten-free diet, vegetarian or vegan may consider this option as it contains no gluten and is a good source of carbs and protein (8g on 100g product). This makes it even better than regular pasta. 🍜⠀

- Consuming buckwheat in a form of tea is widely cultivated in East Asia. Koreans have their ‘memil-cha,’ Japanese can’t imagine their morning without a cup of ‘soba-cha’, while the Chinese version is called ‘kuqiao-cha.’ The beverage is made of roasted buckwheat, and has a subtle nutty and earthy taste.☕️⠀

-Buckwheat can also be used as a sweetener. Dark coloured honey is produced⠀
from buckwheat flower. It is known for its robust flavour, similar to molasses. If you haven’t tried it yet, the best place to go to is the Edinburgh Honey Co. 🍯⠀

Enjoy!

⁣Buckwheat husk is our standard filling we use for most of the products.⠀
Apart from tremendous therapeutic benefits we have discussed in the previous post, we would like to share some exciting facts about this… fruit seed. 🌱⠀

-The name buckwheat comes from its triangular seeds, and it is often confused with being a grain because of how it's cooked and used. In fact, buckwheat belongs to the Polygonaceous, a family of flowering plants. ⠀
-Despite the name, buckwheat is not related to wheat but rather sorrel, knotweed and… rhubarb. In bloom it produces white and sometimes pink or yellow flowers. 🌸⠀
-Buckwheat we know today was domesticated and first cultivated in south-east Asia around 6000 BCE. From there it spread to central Asia, Tibet, and the Middle East & Europe. 🌎⠀
-Cooked buckwheat is an incredible gluten-free source of fibre, B⠀
vitamins and minerals: niacin, magnesium, manganese and phosphorus. ⠀
-Even though 72% of buckwheat are carbohydrates, it is also a⠀
good source of protein (13%) popular among vegetarians or vegans (13g of protein per 100g uncooked product).💚

⁣Buckwheat is our number 1 filling when it comes to temperature regulation. Thanks to its shape, buckwheat allows good air circulation, it doesn’t warm up and therefore prevents excessive night sweats.⠀

Like all types of our husk fillings, buckwheat easily adjusts to the shape of spine and neck, giving great support for the body and a restful sleep.😴⠀

📖Some studies suggest that buckwheat pillows may aid in reducing snoring and tension headaches. It doesn’t come as a surprise for us. Keeping the spine aligned, opens up the airways, while headaches can be eased by providing a pressure on specific points along the neck and skull.⠀

Benefits of buckwheat seem to be vast and we would like to share some more interesting facts with you in upcoming posts. Stay tuned friends. 🧡
