In 1950, teachers at Norton Park School captured Edinburgh’s street games and songs in The Singing Street, a short film now in the National Library of Scotland. 🏫📚

The film features pupils at iconic spots like the Grassmarket and Calton Hill and includes whistling by the Scottish poet Norman MacCaig 🎶

John Grierson, the father of the documentary, called it 'the best amateur film I ever saw.' A timeless glimpse into Edinburgh’s past 🎥
