When you’re arranging care for a parent, trust matters. You want to know who will be visiting, whether your parent will feel comfortable with them and who you can contact if you have a question.

At Eidyn Care, our carers are directly employed, SSSC-registered and PVG-checked. Clients affectionately know them as the Eidyn Angels. 🤝

We also understand the value of having a local team you can speak to. As a family-run provider, we want families to feel comfortable asking questions and discussing changes in their loved one’s needs.

Consistency and communication help care feel more familiar, giving families greater confidence in the support their parent receives.

If you’re considering home care, we’re happy to talk through your family’s needs and explain how we work.

If your parent has been assessed as needing social care support, you may have more choice over their care arrangements than you realise.

Self-Directed Support (SDS) gives eligible people a choice of four options for arranging their support. Depending on the option chosen, you may have more control over who provides the care and how it is arranged. ❤️‍🩹

Council-funded support may not cover every hour your family feels would be helpful. In some circumstances, families can privately pay for additional support, such as companionship visits, evening assistance or weekend care.

This may allow your parent to receive council-funded care alongside extra support from the same provider, helping maintain familiar routines and relationships. The arrangements and any additional costs will depend on the individual assessment and care plan.

If you’re starting to explore funding for your parent’s care, understanding the options is a useful first step. Our team can explain how our services work and point you towards further information.

Noticing changes in a parent’s memory or behaviour can be difficult, especially when you’re unsure what they mean.

Dementia can affect people in different ways. Some changes may be subtle at first, such as repeating questions, struggling with familiar tasks or becoming less interested in activities they once enjoyed.

Other signs may include confusion about time or place, difficulty communicating or changes in judgement.

These changes do not automatically mean someone has dementia, but if you notice persistent or concerning changes, it’s worth speaking with a healthcare professional.

If your parent is living with dementia, the right support can help them maintain familiar routines and feel more comfortable at home. 🩵

Eidyn Care provides support tailored to each person’s needs, with the aim of helping them remain as independent as possible.

If you’re considering dementia care for a loved one, we’re here to talk through the options.

When a loved one needs support throughout the day and night, families may start wondering whether staying at home is still possible.

For some people, 24-hour care at home can be an alternative to moving into a care home.

It allows them to remain in familiar surroundings, keep their routines and receive one-to-one support. 🤝

At Eidyn Care, we offer different levels of overnight and round-the-clock care, depending on the support needed.

This can include overnight visits, waking nights, sleepovers and full live-in care.

The right arrangement depends on your loved one’s needs, preferences and circumstances.

For couples, care at home may also make it possible to continue living together.

If you’re exploring more intensive care for a family member, we can help you understand the options available.

When families first consider home care, one of the questions they often have is what a visit actually involves.

An hour of care can be used in different ways, depending on what your parent needs that day.

It might include help with washing and dressing, preparing a meal, medication assistance or simply having someone there for a friendly conversation. 🩵

The visit is planned around your parent’s routines and preferences, rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.

Some people need practical help, while others value the company and reassurance of a familiar carer.

Care can also change over time. If your parent’s needs develop, their care plan can be reviewed to make sure the support remains suitable.

If you’re unsure what kind of support your parent may need, we can talk through the options with you.

Every family’s care needs are different. Some people need a little help with everyday tasks, while others need support throughout the day and night. 🤝

At Eidyn Care, we offer different types of care to help people remain safe, comfortable and independent at home.

- Home Care
Flexible visits from one hour a day, with support for personal care, medication, meals and companionship. Care can adapt as needs change, with familiar carers wherever possible.

- Live-in and 24-Hour Care
For people who need more consistent support, live-in care and 24-hour care provide assistance throughout the day and night. It can also help couples remain together in their own home.

- Supported Living
For adults with learning disabilities, tailored support can help them live in their own home, make choices and maintain independence.

If you’re exploring care options for a loved one, we’re happy to talk through what might suit your family.

When you are considering care for a parent, hearing about another family’s experience can be reassuring.

Graeme, the son of an Eidyn Care client, shared his experience after six months of care for his father.

He highlighted the professional standard of care, but also the time carers took to get to know his father and build positive relationships with him.

For families, that personal connection can matter just as much as the practical support. Having people your parent feels comfortable with can make care at home feel much more natural.

It can also give family members greater confidence to step back from some of the day-to-day responsibilities while knowing their loved one is receiving support.

You can read more feedback from families who have chosen Eidyn Care on our website.

Choosing a care company for Mum or Dad is an important decision.

It is worth taking the time to find out how the provider actually works.

Here are a few things to consider:

- Are the carers directly employed and properly checked?
- Will your parent have familiar carers where possible?
- Can the level of care change if their needs change?
- Will you have someone you can contact if you have questions?
- Does the care plan reflect your parent’s routines and preferences?

At Eidyn Care, we are a local, family-run provider supporting families across Edinburgh and Fife. Our carers are directly employed, SSSC-registered and PVG-checked.

Most importantly, choose a provider that takes the time to understand your parent as an individual.

If you are comparing care options, we are happy to answer your questions.

If you are arranging care for a parent, you may be wondering whether home care or a care home would be the better option.

With home care, your parent remains in their own home while receiving support around their existing routines.

This can range from regular visits to more intensive support, depending on their needs.

With a care home, your parent moves into a setting where accommodation and care are provided together.

There is no single option that is right for every family. It is important to consider your parent’s needs, preferences, independence and the level of support they require.

For some families, home care can provide the extra help needed while allowing Mum or Dad to remain in familiar surroundings.

If you are unsure which option could work best, we can talk through your circumstances and the support available.
