🚜 The latest figures shared by HSE highlight why Farm Safety Week remains so important. Improving safety across the sector starts with practical action: identifying risks, maintaining equipment, and involving workers in safety decisions.

However, one of the most important things we can encourage is open and honest conversations about safety. People need to feel able to raise concerns, challenge unsafe practices, and speak up when something doesn't feel right.

We're proud to support organisations across the agricultural sector with practical, proportionate health and safety advice that helps keep people safe.

It is Farm Safety Week and as always, is being supported by HSE.

New provisional figures show that 29 people were killed in agriculture, forestry and fishing in 2025/26, including three children.

These figures remind us that real and lasting change is needed across the industry.

Health and safety must be at the heart of every farm's day-to-day decisions — protecting workers, families and members of the public alike.

Wayne Owen, HSE inspector for agriculture said: "These are not inevitable accidents; many result from risks that could and should be controlled. Meaningful and lasting improvement will only come through a significant cultural change across the industry — one that starts on every farm and with every farmer."

A few simple steps can make a big difference:

Martyn’s Law is moving into the implementation phase, with organisations across the UK now beginning to review what the new requirements could mean in practice.

Also known as the Protect Duty, the legislation is designed to improve preparedness and protective security measures at publicly accessible locations, including workplaces, venues and education settings.
