Confor arranged for Melanie Ward MP to visit Scott Pallets in Burntisland and learn more about what the industry adds to local economies, and timber's role as a vital material for national security.

Timber Security IS National Security. We have prepared easy-to-use resources to help you engage your local MP in our campaign: https://confor.nationbuilder.com/

80% of the timber we use is imported.

That puts our housing, economy and supply chains at risk.

We’re building a campaign to change that.

As part of our campaign promoting the importance of Timber Security to National Security and Economic Resilience, Confor has published key recommendations and actions for the UK Government.

These include recognition of timber as a national priority, long-term funding for domestic production, and public procurement policies for homegrown timber.

We will be asking our members and colleagues across the industry to share this briefing document with their MPs and foster greater understanding of why Timber Security IS National Security.

Confor has launched a national campaign to draw attention to one simple fact: Timber Security IS National Security.

The UK’s reliance on imported wood is a threat to multiple industries and political priorities, including housing, construction, infrastructure, packaging and decarbonisation. We are calling on MPs to take action and safeguard this vital resource for future generations.

This campaign was launched at a meeting of the APPG on Forestry and Timber Security this week. You can help boost the message by sharing this video to your own networks.
