Many thanks to all involved in creating another great 4 packed days in the action filled Forestry Arena at the 2026 Royal Highland Show.
Once again we are delighted to announce that the Scottish Poleclimbing Championships were sponsored by Scottish Woodlands and we would also like to acknowledge support provided to the arena from other companies including Jas P Wilson, Arbortec and Aspen Fuels. Making some noise at the side of the arena while creating some amazing wooden sculptures, were our three amazing chainsaw carvers, Iain from Chainsaw Creations, Sam Bowsher & Chainsaw Pete, while wowing everyone with their 2-wheeled skills, was 8 times British champion and Scottish Champion, Scott Wilson, who joined us again along with another British Champion, Danny Stewart.
To bring the show to a close for us, it was great to welcome into the arena Simon Oldham, Technical Director of Scottish Woodlands, who was joined by Donald Harvey, a Trustee of the Show, for the Scottish Poleclimbing Championship Awards ceremony.
Congratulations to Gregor Hamblin for winning the Tree Surgeon Class with a margin of less than a fifth of a second, which allows him to join the Expert Class at his next competition. The top 4 places in this class were within around 3 seconds, so a very close competition. Well done to Emma Whelan taking the honours in the Ladies Class and in the Expert Class, her husband Dan took 1st place in a amazingly fast sub 10 second time, winning it now for the 8th time!
