The NSA Lambing List is opening shortly for students to view placements for work experience on a working farm.

The list connects NSA sheep farming members with students looking for hands-on lambing experience.

There is no cost to this for students, at NSA we realise how important it is to support the future of farming so offer this as part of the NSA Next Generation initiative.

Taking SRUC’s research and expertise onto the international stage.

SRUC academics Professor Mike Coffey and PhD student Abby Wells travelled to Washington DC last week to take part in the prestigious Queen Elizabeth Prizes for Education: USA Exchange.

Selected through a competitive application process, Mike and Abby joined representatives from eight UK universities and colleges to share expertise, build international connections and explore opportunities for future collaboration.

During their visit, they met with colleagues at Washington State University to discuss research links and visited the Council for Dairy Cattle Breeding to exchange genetic sequence data and explore improvements to genomic evaluation.

The exchange builds on SRUC’s longstanding research collaboration with the United States and follows our third Queen Elizabeth Prize for Higher and Further Education, recognising the impact of the Scottish Farm Business Survey on agricultural policy and practice.

Congratulations to Mike and Abby on representing SRUC and helping strengthen the international partnerships that support agricultural research, innovation and the future of farming.

Not every day you get to visit a farm and encounter two fantastic steam trains.

Professor Wayne Powell, SRUC Principal and Chief Executive and Gavin Hill, SAC Consulting Senior Beef Specialist visited John Cameron, Balbuthie Farm in Fife where they toured the cattle enterprise along with discussions on the agriculture industry and opportunities for younger generation.

Highlight was the astonishing sight of the 'Union of South Africa' and the 'Great Marquess' steam trains proudly displayed at Balbuthie.

It was a pleasure to welcome members of the HND Agriculture Class of 1972 back to King’s Buildings.

The group enjoyed a fascinating visit to the vertical farm, as well as GreenCow and GreenShed at Easter Howgate Farm, discovering the latest developments in agricultural innovation and sustainable farming.

A wonderful opportunity to celebrate the continued evolution of agricultural science and technology.

Thank you for joining us!
