A lot has changed since Thomas Haywood of Thomas Haywood Aerial Photography first joined BNI TGI Edinburgh.

Thomas has watched technology transform his industry, built a business around something that barely existed commercially when he started, and learned a fair bit about business along the way.

And after nearly 18 years in the same BNI chapter, he’s probably earned the right to share a few lessons!

You know you're in a good networking group when you're having a laugh together with a decent coffee, even though it's only 6:30am 😂

Ever walked into a room full of experienced business owners and wondered what on earth you're doing there? 😅

Imagine doing it at 22.

When you're starting out in business, it's easy to assume everyone else knows more than you, has everything figured out, and somehow got handed the instruction manual you missed.

Spoiler: they didn't.

One of our youngest members at BNI TGI Edinburgh has shared five things they've learned so far, and there's plenty of wisdom here for business owners twice their age.

Especially the bit about showing up before you feel ready.

That's something we love about our chapter. We've got people at different ages, stages and levels of experience, all learning from each other.

You don't need 20 years in business to have something worth contributing. And you certainly don't need to have all the answers.

At 58, Steve's reflecting on a few things he's learned about business, ambition and the importance of having good people around you.

And we particularly like his reminder that you don't have to do everything on your own.

After all, that's a big part of why we get together every Friday morning. Running a business can be a lonely old game, and having people in your corner makes a difference.
