I’m not normally cool enough to be hanging out at trendy establishments but I love supporting local independent businesses and since it’s the Edinburgh festival and I’ve become quite adept at standing in queues, I walked past one in Stockbridge that I couldn’t resist. Lannan Bakery. Oh my! The pastries were worth every second of the wait. Run, don’t walk.

I promise it’s easier to action than you think. It look me less than 5 mins to go online and pay and you’ll get a nice wee dopamine hit from getting it done. Don’t leave it to get caught up with the junk mail and forgotten about.

The summer can be overwhelming for many. Families spending all day, every day together, expectations to be our best selves, and feeling like we have to be eeking out every last second of daylight. But real life is also going on in the background. This might not be the time to implement new systems, do all the things that have been needing done for months. If they’re not urgent, they can wait. Wait until the kids are back at school. Wait until our heads are back in the game. Just do what it takes to keep everything ticking along and take a beat.

Summer is a time to slow down. Do the tasks you must do, but remember that some things can wait. In fact, things you thought you really ought to do sometimes naturally disappear with time and others don’t feel as urgent as they first did once you give them some time to marinade.
