This week again highlights just how vital Emergency First Aid at Work training is within health and social care as we are delivering training again to a supported living company we work with in Cheshire.

When you’re supporting people’s health and wellbeing, those first few minutes in an emergency can make all the difference.

What always stands out is how similar the conversations are across all organisations. Staff want practical, hands-on skills, clarity on their responsibilities, and reassurance that they can stay calm under pressure. Managers, on the other hand, are focused on building a consistent safety culture, strengthening compliance, and reducing risk across their services. Training isn’t just a tick-box exercise; it’s about empowering people to act quickly, safely and effectively in real-life situations, whether that’s with a colleague, a resident, or a member of the public.

How are you currently supporting your staff to feel more confident and capable in dealing with emergencies at work?

There’s a lot of talk about an “Andy Burnham bounce” right now – but is it actually good for providers, or does it just raise expectations without fixing the fundamentals?

Greater attention on local services can help build momentum and trust. But for providers, it might also mean more scrutiny, tighter contracts and less tolerance for anything short of “outstanding” – all while workforce and funding pressures haven’t gone away.

If you work with or within provider organisations, how does the “bounce” feel from your side: opportunity, added pressure, or a bit of both? Share your experiences below 👇
