Some of you who are of a certain age, will remember the iconic TV show, This Is Your Life, most famously hosted by presenter, Eammon Andrews.
In the show, the Eammon would surprise an unsuspecting celebrity, before taking them back to the studio and sharing their story, with the help of guests from all stages of the celebrity's life.
The surprise element was a very important part of the show... so much so that if the celebrity heard about the project beforehand, the show was cancelled!
The show is very fondly remembered for the joy and laughter that came about by the sharing of memories, and the appearance of unexpected guests.
Now - imagine pulling something like that together for a loved one? Well, that's where I come in!
I can compose and conduct such an event that will be filled with fun and, most likely, a wee tear or two!
Take this scenario - it's your Mum’s 60th birthday, and you have organised a big party (which she may or may not know about). In the lead up to it, you and I (and anyone else who wants to be involved), would meet to discuss your Mum's life so far, and identify people that you would like to take part in the ceremony (whether in person or a pre-recorded piece). The kind of people you might want to include are family members, old friends or ex- colleagues.... anyone that your Mum would be thrilled to see!
I will then prepare a script and once it is approved by you, the planning begins as I take care of all the logistics.
On the day itself, I would coordinate every aspect of the ceremony’s delivery, making sure any participants would know exactly what to do and when.
Then once the party commences, and on an agreed cue, I will approach your Mum with the famous ‘big red book’, to the strains of the iconic This is Your Life theme tune, and the fun begins!
The ceremony would most likely last around an hour or so, giving your Mum plenty of time afterwards to enjoy the rest of her night.
And after the ceremony is finished, I will leave your Mum with her own ‘big red book’, as a momento to be enjoyed again and again.
