If you're a tutor or run a child-focused business, how do you find new clients?
There are so many ways to market a business now.
✅ Websites
✅ Social media
✅ Groups and platforms
✅ Flyers
✅ Paid ads.
But good old word of mouth still has its place!
For me, nothing beats a referral.
Of course, referrals are usually one of the cheapest ways to gain a new client. But more importantly, they usually mean you’re doing something right.
A referred client often comes with a better understanding of who you are, what you do, and why someone else trusts you. That makes them more likely to be a good fit for your business.
That’s one of the things we’re building at The Tutor Collective.
We’re a friendly group of local tutors and children’s activity providers who take recommendations seriously.
We don’t ask members to recommend each other simply because they’re in the group. In fact, we actively discourage that. A recommendation should mean something.
It should be based on trust, experience, and a genuine belief that the person or business is a good fit.
Over time, those recommendations tend to happen naturally for members who regularly attend meetings, clearly explain what they do and how they do it, and show how their business helps their clients and communities.
And really, that’s just one benefit of The Tutor Collective.
📅 Next Meeting
Our next meeting is on Friday 5th June, where we’ll be joined by Tania Diggory, Founder and Director of Calmer, who will be teaching us how to manage stress and prevent burnout.
