Planning solar panels, battery storage or a heat pump? A VAT change is coming.

Qualifying home installations in Northern Ireland currently benefit from 0% VAT, covering both the equipment and its installation.

Under current government rules, this temporary relief ends on 31 March 2027, with 5% VAT applying from 1 April 2027.

What could that mean for your budget?
An eligible installation costing £10,000 before VAT would cost £10,500 at the new rate—an additional £500, assuming the underlying price stays the same.

If renewable energy is already on your home improvement list, now is a good time to explore your options and allow time for a survey, system design and installation.

🚂 A little history from our home in Ballinamallard…

On this day 69 years ago, Monday 30 September 1957, Fermanagh’s trains made their final journeys.

At Enniskillen, the last passenger service to Omagh departed at 6.40pm, marking the end of an era for communities along the route, including Ballinamallard.

For us at Future Renewables, this history is close to home: our offices occupy the redeveloped buildings of the old Ballinamallard railway station.

Once a place where people set out on sustainable journeys, these buildings now house our team helping homes and businesses take their next steps towards sustainable renewable energy.

Today, we remember the railway workers, passengers and communities who were part of that story—and we’re proud to be part of the station’s next chapter.
