Imagine... a mortgage-free house, no credit card debt, and the quiet confidence of a family business run on discipline rather than debt.

My latest post breaks down what financial wealth really looks like, why personal financial habits almost always mirror business ones, and why that connection matters more than most owners realise.

Take a look at the 6 financial rules every business needs to survive. And if you fancy reading up on it more, drop me a message and I’ll gladly share the link to my latest article “What Is Generational Wealth and How Does a Family Business Create It?”

I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Mark Bailey is a business consultant based in Essex supporting family businesses and small businesses with financial turnaround, scaling and growth, succession planning and offering business advising packages and fractional director packages.

You have two choices:

1. Take the money out of the business and buy the sports car.

2. Reinvest it. Grow the asset. Pass it down.

Same money. Completely different outcomes.Generational wealth isn’t about being a billionaire.

For most family businesses, it’s about building something that funds a sustainable lifestyle today, and grows in value for the generation after you.

Watch my video to learn the 4 pillars needed to make generational wealth achievable.

Remove any of them, and the whole thing weakens.

If you want to understand what your businesses could look like in 20 years, and how to build it properly, drop me a message.

It seems the perspective on AI shifts constantly.

One day it’s doom and gloom.

The next it’s learn and embrace it or miss out.

Then there’s a backlash and the value of human-first services becomes highly valued.

I’m of the opinion AI can significantly improve efficiency, and as a powerful tool, you should incorporate it into your business or risk being left behind.

Of course, with any major shift, jobs are at risk.

In my latest video, I provide 3 key ways to keep your business AI resilient and 3 ways to use AI to stay ahead of your competitors.

Feel free to share your thoughts on this topic or reach out if you would like to discuss in more depth how can best utilise AI within your business.

It starts as good intentions: a strong opinion, a rushed decision, a concern nobody voiced, and only later gets read as something worse.

Left unaddressed, these moments compound until the relationship, not just the disagreement, is at risk.

Swipe through to see the approach I take when confronting conflict in a family business.

In a follow up to this week’s video, I have put together a full breakdown, including how to actually run my framework with your family or leadership team.

Conflict within a family happens, and can lead to all kinds of negative outcomes. Conflict within a family business can be disastrous for the business, employees, and owners.

Usually it all stems from lots of small disagreements that never get properly discussed.

To help get to the root cause of the issue and find a compromise, I use a framework called STOP.

Take a look at the video to gain an understanding of this approach.

I’d like to hear your thoughts.

In 2008, I joined my family business. There were two of us, we had too much debt, and not enough customers. 16 years later, we successfully sold the business.

Watch the video to hear my two key learnings that I took away.

I now spend my days supporting family-run businesses with these two important factors, so they can run their business properly, and not the other way around.

Over the past few months, I have produced a range of short videos and articles, providing a variety of business tips and advice gained from my experience.

Feel free to comment “LESSONS” below or send me a DM, and I will gladly share my latest advice article (they are free).

There are plenty of myths family business owners often tell themselves, and they’re all wrong.

In my latest article, I debunk 5 popular family business myths. Perhaps one or two of them resonate with you if you run a family business.

Comment “MYTH” or DM me for the link.

I’d love to hear your thoughts.

No, it’s not. Planned and set up correctly. It can be simplified and taught.

Ideas are like new foods and vegetables. Mum always said you must try a new food at least 10 mouthfuls before saying you don’t like it!

Yes, they will. Planned and given the right support. They might even do a better job than you!

Comment “MYTH” or DM me and I’ll send you the link to my Family Busienss article.

I’m not naive enough to believe everyone in your family business will be happy to hand over the business you’ve built so hard or be asked to run it.

I’ve heard people say things like “That’s impossible” or “It can’t be done” but each time I hear this, I see a challenge waiting to be overcome and a mindset ready to change. These beliefs often cloud judgement and reinforce bias.

In this video I discuss 3 popular family business myths, and how best to approach them instead.

Do you agree or disagree with these?

Is there anything you’d add?
