A little Lady Liberty…

Hidden on the back of this pretty Swiss 14ct gold pendant watch is this wonderful depiction of Lady Liberty, surrounded by beautifully engraved decoration.

It’s one of those pieces that makes you wonder who originally owned it, where she wore it and what stories it could tell.

Coming up in our 19th September auction, with an estimate of just £80 to £120.

Proof that you don’t need a huge budget to find something rather special at auction.

💙 A TOUCH OF BLUE 💙

Elegant, decorative and wonderfully wearable, this 9ct gold blue gem-set necklace, designed in the form of a flowering plant, is one of the jewellery lots coming under the hammer at The Auction Room | Hansons Newark this September.

With delicate gold leaves, sprays of sparkling blue stones and soft blue cabochon-style gems, the pendant section measures approximately 5cm across x 3.7cm high, with an approximate gross weight of 16g.

And this month, there is rather more to see than usual…

🐉 A fine silk robe with a fiery bidding war…

This magnificent Chinese silk embroidered dragon robe, dating from the late Qing dynasty (1839–1912), certainly caught the attention of bidders in yesterday’s Fine Art Auction! ✨

With an estimate of just £400-£700, the robe inspired a fierce bidding battle before the hammer finally came down at an incredible £1,700 - more than four times the lower estimate! 🔨🔥

A fantastic result for this beautifully embroidered piece of Chinese history and another reminder that you never quite know where an auction room can take you!

What’s the craziest souvenir you’ve ever brought home from holiday?

A fridge magnet? A bottle of something you’ll never drink? Something questionable from a gift shop?

Well, in the 1920s, one adventurous lady travelled through Tibet and decided this was coming home with her.

And apparently, her poor Sherpas had to carry it for her!

Nearly a century later, it found its way to Hanson Ross, complete with a rather fabulous story.

It got us thinking…
