The joys of running my own business.

When I was in full-time employment, I would never have been able to take time out of my working day twice a week, to go and work for someone else, albeit for free.

One of the reasons I chose to set up my own business was to get a better work-life balance.

Today I shall be at Vale Wildlife Hospital & Rehabilitation Centre coming up with social media ideas, taking photos of wildlife that have ended up in there, and hopefully watching their resident vet treat a casualty.

Not everyone's cup of tea, granted.

But for me, it's a dream and one I couldn't have done in my previous life.

My out of office is now on and I’m going to relax, recharge and plan for 2022.

I’d be lying if I said that setting up a business during a global pandemic had been easy. There were times when I questioned my sanity and wondered whether I was doing the right thing.

And then a review comes in and it makes all the blood, sweat and tears seem worthwhile.

The time saving, task reducing, time freeing super VA you didn’t know you needed.
I love the tasks you hate, I can’t do what you specialise in, but I can take away the stuff-you-don’t-specialise -in but-have-to-get-done stuff.

I have some late availability for December and January.

WHY?

One of my clients saved so much time they’ve decided to fly off somewhere warmer for the winter. (Can’t blame them I guess)

Jax Virtual Services will be closed on Friday 3rd and Monday 6th September.

Almost 15 months now, since I set up my own business. I am loving it. Truly.

Today though, I feel like it has all caught up with me; the excitement of starting a business; the rollercoaster of running a business; the ups and downs of life in a pandemic; starting and maintaining a business during a pandemic.

I am tired. I am struggling with some mew issues which could, or could not be, related to my spinal arthritis. I feel a little done in.

I have booked myself a couple of days off to recharge. My first time off since I started Jax Virtual Services. It's only a couple of days but they're needed.

Normal service shall resume on Tuesday 7th September.

It's been a while since I posted a new blog but recently I did just that. It's all about the exciting world of processes...

We ended yesterday's post with a promise to add more logic to why process mapping is important...

Here goes.

When you map out all the processes in your business, you're making sure all your bases are covered.

- The route enquiries take through to fulfillment
- The way orders are processed until delivery
- The way complaints are handled
- The way feedback is taken

What you do is allow everyone within the business to have a clear understanding of what happens at all of the customer 'touch points' within your business.

It makes training new staff members much easier. They can see a clear logical progression of the customer journey that adds rationale to the things they learn.

It allows salespeople to understand where the customer has been, and where they are going en route to completing a sale.

Your customer service people understand the how and why of managing complaints and taking feedback.

You get to highlight gaps in any area of the business that could be problematic.

Your business can run more cleanly. Lean and efficient. Everyone knows what they have to do, when they have to do it. Most importantly...WHY they have to do it.

Get your processes down, and your sales and efficiency up.
