Interestingly, when you type ‘staff absence’ into a search engine, all content points towards ‘sickness’. An estimated 149.3 million working days were lost because of sickness or injury in the UK in 2021, equivalent to 4.6 days per worker (Office for National Statistics).

Are you doing all you can as employers to ensure your employees are safe during a ? 🔥🔥

Key points to remember are:

There is no legal upper limit/temperature - BUT

Employers do have a duty of care under the Health and Safety legislation (and should be conducting risk assessments)

More (short-term) flexible (avoid the hot commute stagger start and finish times)

Relax dress codes

Ensure outside workers have the right PPE (including sun cream and hats) – desk fans etc for indoor workers

Designate someone to make sure the water cooler is filled up at intervals during the day if you have one, or make sure you have plenty of bottled water.
