Looking for your next challenge? 🚴 Next May, our partners over at Transaid are bringing together riders for an unforgettable four-day cycle challenge from Venice to the shores of Lake Bohinj in Slovenia.

Covering 335km, the route will take riders through vineyard-covered hills and lush valleys before climbing into the spectacular Julian Alps, crossing the Predil Pass and visiting iconic Lake Bled along the way.

A Dawlish community hub could soon be using the power of the sun to cut energy costs, with plans for a new solar array designed to make the site more sustainable. The project could help support the long-term future of a much-loved local facility, while showing how renewable energy can deliver practical benefits for community spaces.

SOLAR panels could be installed on the roof of a community hall in Dawlish as part of plans to improve the energy efficiency of the site.

❄️ That's a wrap on Cold Chain Live 2026! What a fantastic couple of days connecting with businesses, industry leaders and partners from across the UK's cold chain sector.

Our team, Vanessa, Nick, Lois and our Founder & CEO, Simon Nicholls were on hand to discuss one of the biggest challenges facing temperature-controlled operations: balancing rising energy costs with resilience, operational performance and long-term sustainability.

It was also fantastic to catch up with our charity partner, Transaid, including Chief Executive Caroline Barber and Corporate Partnerships Officer Kohei Ohno. We're extremely proud to support their work improving road safety and access to healthcare, and it was a pleasure to reconnect in person.

⚡ A few key takeaways from this year's conversations:

🔹 Energy costs remain a major operational consideration. Cold stores require substantial, consistent electricity consumption, making long-term energy planning increasingly important.

🔹 Energy resilience matters just as much as cost reduction. Reliable power is essential for protecting temperature-sensitive goods, maintaining operations and managing disruption.

A new 40 MWp solar farm in Essex has been completed and handed over, marking another significant step in the UK’s growing large-scale solar sector. The project adds to Greencells’ expanding UK track record and highlights the momentum behind utility-scale solar as the country continues to build out its renewable energy capacity.

Greencells Group has completed and handed over the 40 MWp Crays Hall Farm solar park in the UK to Aukera Energy.

'Bowman's Harbour Solar Farm in Wednesfield - which opened in 2024 - also provided roughly 75% of New Cross Hospital's electricity between April 2025 and March.

Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust said the site further delivered an annual carbon reduction of about 1,450 tonnes of CO2 equivalent.'
