I went out into the wild today to the

My first session started off looking like a silent disco with a cool set of headphones, but instead of music we listened to on how he got to where he is now by pushing through the negativity and difficult situations. My takeaway from that is that I’m definitely going to start buying the Lurpak!

This was followed by who showed us the kind of pics we should (and shouldn’t) be taking to appeal to potential new clients.

Went for lunch with some fellow Jellys before entering the lounge where everything was sparkly, pretty and pink for more introductions, conversations and hugs 💕

Saw lots of people I already know and met lots of new people.

Didn’t take many pictures but came away with lots of lovely goodies and info from people I hope to follow up with.

My 7yo fleeced me of everything in my goody bag - but kindly gave me back any business cards, leaflets and some teabags that he didn’t feel were of any use to him 😂

I was chatting the other day about the load we carry as mums. The invisible kind — all the life admin that comes with having children and running a home, often done under the radar with little acknowledgement.

The remembering, the planning, the organising, the emotional load… it’s a lot. And so many mums are carrying that while also building careers, running businesses, freelancing, or working full-time.

As a freelance social media manager, I have the privilege of supporting women working in all kinds of ways — from stay-at-home mums carving out time for their ideas, to full-time working mums balancing meetings, school runs, and everything in between.

There is no single “right” way to do motherhood or work. Every setup looks different, and every mum is doing the best she can with the many hats she wears.

Today feels like a good day to acknowledge the unseen work, the resilience, and the quiet strength behind it all.

Happy Mother’s Day to every mum making it work in her own way. 💛

Happy International Women’s Day to all the amazing women in my life!

The theme for this year is Give to Gain which is particularly apt when it comes to runnjng your own business.

In my experience of self-employment the support from fellow women owned businesses is amazing.

If I’m stuck, I call on the women in my space who give up their time to not only help me with my stuckness, but also provide solutions. No question is too basic or stupid!

A special shout out to the - the Inner Hub has come to my rescue on many occasions 💕

It's Monday and the kids are back at school and I'm back in front of my laptop.

Last week was a mix of work and spending time with the kids - a good balance of both.

We spent a couple of days in Bristol which was really nice. We were total tourists, wandering around and dodging all the cyclists and scooters who were slowing down for nobody!

My week is looking like this:
541 emails
Content creation
Client Engagement blocks
Email list set up
Newsletter creation
Content Planning

As well as my ever-growing to-do list. How's your week looking?

Happy Valentine's Day!

Don't worry, this isn't your usual mushy gushy post but a bit of an appreciation post.

Yesterday was the last day of term for a week, and even this time last year it would have sent me into a bit of a panic wondering how I was going to give 100% to my kids at the same time as giving 100% to my clients. The whole work/life balance doesn't just go out of the window, but smashes though it!

But not anymore! Planning is the key. I've got all the work I could do in advance done, my inbox is clear and up to date. All the bits that have to be done in 'real time' are in my calendar so that I know to do them (and is also kept to a minimum) and my socials are scheduled to keep my business ticking over.

That's not to say I won't be doing any work at all, but there will be no meetings, discovery calls or anything that needs me for huge blocks of time.

This means that I can enjoy the half-term with the kids guilt free, but also stress free in the knowledge that all is well on the business front too.

How do you manage the school holidays as a business owner?

So the key here is not to overthink anything.

There's no need to reinvent the wheel every time you post something to your social media platforms.

Try this instead.

Pay a visit to your analytics and look at your best performing content for the last year (or the last 90 days if you're a new business).

Have a look at your top three posts - and recreate. Add a different image or tweak the design. If last year you did a carousel, can it be recreated as a reel by using some B-roll, or even a video that you've taken recently.

You could even use the same caption - as you know that only you see 100% of your content.

Schedule these and forget.

In a week's time the kids break up from school for half-term.

At the start of my business it would send me into a bit of a panic, wondering how I was going to juggle work and the kids. We're sold the idea that as women we're allowed to have it all, but it's rarely a reality.

However, over time (and many mistakes) I've found a happy medium that suits me and my business, and also allows for family time.

Planning - it's as simple as that!

Scheduling your content, whether you do this in-app or using a scheduling tool is your best friend.

If you plan content on a monthly basis, they yey you!

Schedule content that will need minimal interaction - i.e no launches or post-launches.

Let people know that you're not going to be around much as you're taking some family time, and pin this content so it's the first thing they see when they land on your page.

Sign post people to any resources or FAQ's you may have. You could also set up an automatic response (for both Facebook and Instagram).

Close your diary for bookings.

And don't forget to add an Out of Office to your emails.

Relax and enjoy your family time.

Three years ago today I worked my last day in the NHS.

I didn’t dislike my job, it just didn’t have the opportunities for me to work flexibly around my family.

I was terrified and excited at the same time but there hasn’t been a day since that’s made me feel like it was the wrong decision.

There’s ups and downs to being self-employed, but I no longer have the feeling of being stuck doing something I don’t enjoy.

I get to work with an amazing variety of people from home, at a co-working space or in a little cafe of choice.

If you’re standing on the edge unsure of making a decision - just jump! You never know what’s round the corner!

My actual real life this week!

I am lucky that I’m at home if the kids need me, but a bored poorly teenager needs more than your regular amount of patience!

Hopefully Monday normal services will resume!

If you were to create just 6 posts today, and post one each week for the next 6 weeks - this will take you through to the end of the school holidays. Even better, use a scheduler so this content goes out automatically.

Whilst people are busy, they’re still scrolling so don’t miss the opportunities.

If you’re not sure what to post, have a look at your analytics to see what posts have been most popular with your audience over the last the last few months and create something similar. You could in fact look at what you posted this time last year. For me, posts on working from home with minimal childcare was super popular.

Make your life easier by tweaking the content and repurposing it if it’s still relevant.

Also make sure that you’re making use of pinned posts, using these for posts like how people can work with you/contact you/sign up for offers etc…..Whilst you may be having some downtime over the summer, make it easy for potential customers or clients to have something to access whilst you’re away - Even if its a contact form which you can pick up on your return.

Then close your laptop and go and enjoy yourself x

Quite simply.......YES!

I've heard this being discussed and debated many times over the last couple of weeks with the reasoning being that people are going to be away on holiday or preoccupied with kids if they have any.

But whilst they may be taking a break, they're still scrolling their phone whether it's at home whilst they make a cuppa, or whilst their sipping a cocktail by the pool.

And they may not be opening looking for your services, they may make a note to have a look again once they're back home, and if you're not posting then they aren't seeing.

A side note - but very important thing to remember is that for many of us that are parents - September signifies the start of a new year. It certainly does for me so don't miss out on those people that may become potential clients come September!
