I rarely talk about family & personal things but I am going to this time because I wanted to acknowledge something.
Last week started brilliantly. Onboarded a new client on Monday, a published author with a genuinely exciting project ahead of her.
Met with another new client Tuesday who I am absolutely buzzing about.
Had a great session building out a website for an existing client. All systems go.
Then Thursday happened.
My daughter hadn’t been well. One GP appointment led to A&E, which led to a scan, which led to a surgeon, which led to theatre to remove her appendix at 6:30pm on Friday.
I know this is a very common and routine procedure as they go but, as any parent would know, having your child operated on is always terrifying and very emotional.
She’s home now. She’s fine. Doing absolutely amazing! 💕
The reason I decided to mention it is because I just want to take a moment to talk about the NHS.
We are just so damn lucky.
Honestly, every single department we went through, every single member of staff, went above and beyond. Not one person did we come across who wasn’t kind, thorough and genuinely caring. We were not a number. We were looked after.
I know how stretched they are. I know what they’re working with. And they were just incredible. Every single one of them. And I’m just so grateful.
I see posts sometimes moaning about waiting times etc. So I wanted to speak up and say a huge heartfelt ‘you’re amazing’ and talk about the positives because genuinely - the hours they work, the shifts - and yet every single person along the journey went above and beyond.
The week obviously went sideways from a work perspective. I messaged my clients, explained what was happening and every single one of them came back with some version of “go, family first, we’ll be here.” That’s the kind of working relationships I am grateful for every single day. So a huge thank you to them too 🥰🙏🏼
And to every NHS worker reading this, thank you. 💙
