A picture of Noona for attention!
Last night I dreamed I could needle felt again. I think it was a mouse, or maybe a rabbit. I managed it for a few minutes and dream me was very proud!
Sadly in reality that is still a distant aim. The good news is it’s likely I will be able to get back to felting at some point. The problem is I just don’t know when. The break in my arm was bad and for two weeks I couldn’t move my hand at all. With a lot of effort I now have pretty good (not perfect) hand function but my arm is still mangled and i can’t use it well. I am now week 8 I think, and have another 5 or 6 weeks before they’re even going to consider bothering to xray me again. It’s a rough ride - hugs appreciated ###

So look what I managed to do last week! What an idiot. I attempted to walk across a car park and slipped, crashed down onto my arm. It’s properly buggered. I have unfortunately had to close my shop and cancel my classes and for now we wait and see. I also managed to take a few nerves out and can’t control my hands. So please keep everything crossed I will be able to return to felting!

It’s been a long time coming, but Flippity Felts can proudly announce that we’ve been working on a brand-new breed of My Pet Picnic:
the My Pet Jammy Donut - available in my Etsy shop now!

This particular variety is known as the European Splodge.

Commonly found filled with strawberry or raspberry jam, the European Splodge can trace its origins back into Europe for… well, a really long time. In fact, it seems that for almost as long as humans have existed, we’ve been frying dough.

This proves somewhat awkward if you are planning on keeping a My Pet Jammy Donut - they really, really, really don’t like being reminded of that.

European Splodges are intensely affectionate creatures. However, it must be noted by any prospective owners that affection can only be given and received entirely on their terms. If you attempt to pet one of your European Splodges at a time inconvenient to them, they will sq**rt jam over you. They really, really hate it if you then eat the jam.

Honestly, the list of lesser things that European Splodgers really, really hate can be somewhat off-putting.

European Splodges have been around for such a long time that the casual enthusiast may be interested to read the following entry from The Lady’s Guide to Pet Pastries and Other Curiosities, first published in 1863:

On Appetite and Related Absurdities

One further note of caution must be recorded: European Splodgers appear to be highly food-motivated, despite the inconvenient fact of being composed entirely of food themselves. This may not, at first, present as a matter of concern.

However, instances have been recorded in which a single individual has wiped out an entire larder in one fell swoop. The mechanism by which this is achieved remains unclear.

At this point, the observer is forced to concede that no satisfactory explanation is forthcoming.

I M thrilled to announce Flippity Felts has managed to successfully breed another Pet Scotchie for sale!

Scotch Eggs, or Scotchies as collectors like to call them, make intriguing pets, although there is a lot of misinformation about their history. Believed by many to hail from Scotland, the Scotch Egg’s origins are shrouded in mystery and are believed to be man-made, although coincidentally they do speak with broad Scottish accents, which probably confuses things.

With no Scotch Eggs living in the wild, Scotchies have never needed to develop a fear of predators and, as such, they are incredibly friendly. They are also incredibly stupid - so very, very stupid. Therefore prospective owners should be aware that they will forget who you are every time you leave the room. Nonetheless, their sociable nature ensures that when re-introduced to their owners they will immediately re-form a strong bond with them. Unfortunately their naturally stupid and trusted nature has meant all attempts to introduce them into the wild have been thwarted, as they were observed going up to the nearest duck or swan and attempting to nest inside its beak. As such, it has been universally agreed that Scotchies should remain in captivity.

Scotch Eggs are not bred the traditional way, but rather reproduce via a combination of Binary Fission and cloning.

One thing to be aware of - a Scotch Egg with a runny yolk is displaying symptoms of gentrification and should be treated by an experienced delicatessen at your earliest convenience. Some unscrupulous ‘breeders’ sell these Scotchies as a rare breed at inflated prices, so be warned! They are pretty tasty though.

*Disclaimer - Scotch Egg folklore has been greatly embellished by the author. Probably.

This is not a real pet. I didn’t want to have to state this but I also don’t want to get in trouble.

t’s very frustrating to say but unfortunately in one week’s time I am going to have to close down my sales and shipping to the United States. The reason behind this is the change in tariffs - as you may know the US recently implemented tariffs. I’m in the UK, and for the past few months buyers from America have seen a 10% tariff added to their purchases from the UK.

There will be changes taking place from the end of August. This is a transitional period from what I understand, and the upshot is that nobody really knows what charges are going to be implemented between September and February 2026. From what I can see from February 2026 there will be a return to the 10% tariff and I will reopen my shop to my lovely US customers - but until then we just don’t know what the charges are going to be. These tariffs will be payable by the customer and the figure I’ve seen floated around is potentially a flat charge of $80 per international order (with exceptions). It seems like nobody really knows at the moment.

I can’t risk one of my customers buying an item unaware of this possibility and finding themselves liable for a high tariff. Therefore I making the decision to stop selling to the US on a temporary basis. I hope that this issue will be resolved sooner than February, but I will be back selling to my beloved US customers as soon as possible.

Note - this does not affect any of my customers from England, Scotland, Wales, Canada, Australia or New Zealand.
