Cornish marine businesses take part in ‘Parade of Sail’ to show support for the development of Falmouth Docks – Joint Statement

Early last Friday morning a flotilla of local marine stakeholders, businesses, workboats and commercial vessels took part in a ‘parade of sail’ to show support for the development of Falmouth Docks.

e should remember that the town of Falmouth was founded around its port, and over the last 100 years the docks have passed between six different custodians.

We want to give a clear message: that whatever the next 100 years hold, the port needs:

Strong Wharfs: Modern, concrete wharfs that can support large cranes and the heavy marine plant and renewables of the future.

Deep Water Berths: For the ships that will service all our lives in both peacetime and wartime.

Adaptable Infrastructure: Modern and adaptable power, cargo handling, storage, workshops and laydown areas.

Let’s all please work together, conforming to environmental best practice, to make sure we leave a modern, competitive port behind us for future

We're proud to be the principal host venue for the inaugural National Vocational Celebration Day on Thursday 6 August 2026.

Hosted by Steph McGovern and broadcast live from Teagle Machinery, this event will celebrate apprenticeships, vocational skills and the people helping to shape the future of industry.

Vocational Celebration Day is being arranged by skills organisation Enginuity and is supported by their sister organisation EAL. We will be hosting college students, employers and manufacturers for what promises to be an inspiring and energetic morning, bringing together apprentices, businesses and education providers from across the region.

Menawethan arrives in Penzance

Our new freight vessel has reached UK waters after a two-month journey from Vietnam – a major milestone for the communities we serve.

Purpose-built for reliability, capacity and year-round service, Menawethan will soon begin operations, strengthening vital freight links between Penzance and the Isles of Scilly, replacing Gry Maritha.

Before entering service, she’ll complete final checks, sea trials and crew training.
