Please note that the dates for have changed.

The conference will now take place on:

We have taken the decision to move the conference from its usual November timing in order to avoid a significant scheduling conflict in Cape Town.

We appreciate that many of you will have been expecting Flotation ’27 to take place in November, and we apologise for any inconvenience that this change may cause.

We hope that the new dates will enable as many members of the international flotation community as possible to join us in Cape Town for four days of presentations, discussion and networking.

Programme Update – New Keynote Speaker

We’d like to announce a change to the previously published programme, with Martin Lynch joining us as our new keynote speaker in place of Jacques Eksteen, who is now unable to attend due to unforseen circumstances.

Martin Lynch is a PhD student at the Sustainable Minerals Institute, University of Queensland. A graduate of UQ with a BE (Chem), Martin began his career in the mining industry, working with companies including Rio Tinto and Iluka Resources.

His career has taken a fascinating and diverse path. He is the author of Mining in World History, tracing the development of global mining from 1500 to the 1970s. In 2009, he moved into the renewable energy sector, becoming the owner and manager of a renewable energy business, which he sold in 2024.

Following this, Martin returned to academia to begin a PhD at the University of Queensland, focusing on the use of substitutes for copper as a potential means of addressing forecast global copper shortage.

We look forward to welcoming Martin and hearing his perspective on one of the key resource challenges facing the global economy.
