☀️ Broken roof tiles… whose problem is that? 🏡

It's something we occasionally come across when installing solar panels.

Sometimes tiles are already cracked, damaged or deteriorating, and the problem only becomes obvious when work starts.

But here's how we deal with it at SA Energy.

🔨 We identify the damaged tiles.

🏡 We explain what we've found to the homeowner.

🛒 Where replacements are needed, we source suitable new roof tiles.

✅ We agree what needs doing with the customer before carrying out additional work.

Because the condition of your roof matters just as much as the solar panels we're putting on it.

We want to leave your property in a safe, weatherproof condition, not leave you with a problem hidden underneath your new installation.

It's not just about fitting panels. It's about respecting your home. 💚💙

🏡 What happens when we discover a problem during your solar installation? 🤔

Not every installation goes exactly to plan!

Sometimes, once we're on your roof or looking at your electrical installation, we uncover problems nobody knew were there.

🔨 Broken or damaged roof tiles.

⚡ Loose electrical connections inside consumer units.

🔍 Existing electrical faults that need attention.

So, what do we do?

We don't ignore them, and we certainly don't just carry on and hope for the best!

We explain what we've found, discuss the options with you and always seek your permission before carrying out any additional work.

Because it's your home, and you deserve to know exactly what's happening.

Good customer care doesn't stop when you accept the quotation.

That's the SA Energy Way. 💚💙

Your solar quotation has arrived… but what should you actually be looking at?

It's tempting to scroll straight to the bottom and look at the price!

But there's much more to a solar and battery proposal than the final figure.

At SA Energy, we want you to understand:

*How much electricity your system could generate.
*Why we've recommended a particular battery size.
*How much of that electricity you're likely to use.
*What the realistic financial savings could look like.
*Why we've chosen that equipment for your home.

The cheapest quotation isn't always the best value, and the most expensive isn't necessarily the best system. We want you to understand exactly what you're buying and why.

No confusing sales pitch. No pressure.
Just honest advice and a system designed around you.

That's the SA Energy Way. 💚💙

So… what happens after Simon leaves your site visit? 😂
He has walked around your property, asked lots of questions, checked your electricity usage, and probably talked about energy for much longer than planned. 😂
Then he's come back to the office…
…and disappears behind his screens.

This is where all those conversations, measurements and energy figures start coming together.
☀️ Solar generation
🔋 Battery sizing
⚡ Your electricity usage
🏡 How you use your home
🚗 Your future plans
💷 And, importantly, whether the numbers actually make sense.

Meanwhile, the rest of us occasionally nod at complicated things on his screen and pretend we know exactly what's happening. 😂

Eventually, all of that becomes your system design and proposal.
Not a package pulled from a price list.
Not “three-bed house = this system.”
Your home. Your energy use. Your design.

That's what happens behind the scenes at SA Energy. 💚💙

☀️ You've got a big roof… should we fill it with solar panels?
Sometimes, yes.
Sometimes, no.

More panels mean more generation - but that doesn't automatically mean a better system. We also need to understand when you use electricity and what happens to the energy you're generating.

That's where your lifestyle, battery sizing and future plans all come into the design.
Sometimes additional panels make perfect sense. Sometimes you're simply spending more money to generate electricity you don't really need.

That's why at SA Energy we're not trying to design the biggest system we can sell you.

We're trying to design the right system for you.
And if that means telling you that you don't need something?
We're perfectly happy to do that.

Education before sales. 💚💙

You've been to my house… so why can't you give me a price?” 🤔
It's a fair question.

We've completed the site visit, walked around your property and talked about how you use energy. But we're still not quite ready to give you a price.
Because next comes the bit you don't necessarily see.
We take everything we've learned and start working out what will actually work for your home.

☀️ What can the roof realistically generate?
🔋 Does a battery make sense, and what size?
⚡ How much of that energy are you likely to use?
🏠 Where should the equipment actually go?
📈 What might your energy needs look like in the future?

And sometimes the system we end up designing isn't what either of us expected at the start.
That's why we design first and price second.
We could give you a quick price based on a standard package.
But that's not how we work.

We'd rather take a little more time and give you a properly considered design than give you a number just to get a quote into your inbox.
That's the SA Energy Way. 💚💙

☀️ You’ve sent us an enquiry… so what happens next?

Following on from Wednesday's post about how we calculate realistic savings, we thought we'd show you what happens before we even start designing your system.
First, we arrange a site visit.

We come to your property, walk around it with you, look at the building, the roof, your existing electrical setup and where equipment could sensibly be installed.
But just as importantly… We get to know you.

Because we're not just designing a system for a property. We're designing it for the people who live there.

We'll talk about things like:
⚡ Are you a high- or low-energy user?
🏡 How many people live in the property?
💻 Does anyone work from home?
⏰ When do you use most of your electricity?
🚗 Do you have an EV, or are you planning one?
🌱 Could a heat pump be part of your future?
💷 What does your current energy use and spending look like?

All of this helps us understand how you actually live in your home.

Because two identical houses next door to each other could need completely different solar and battery systems.

Only once we've understood the property AND the people living in it do we start designing. Then we can look at generation, battery sizing, expected energy use and realistic financial performance.

Site visit → Get to know you → Understand your energy use → Design → Explain.

That's why we don't believe in one-size-fits-all renewable packages.
Your system should be designed around your home and your life.

Education before sales. That's the SA Energy Way. 💚💙

☀️ Same system. Two VERY different renewable energy systems.
We could tell you this system has an estimated payback of 8 years 1 month.
But we don't.

Our customer proposal shows 9 years 4 months. Why? 🤔

The shorter payback assumes things like a time-of-use electricity tariff and export payments.

At , we deliberately leave those out of our financial projections.

Instead, we use:
⚡ A fixed-rate electricity tariff
📊 The customer's actual monthly electricity spend
❌ No assumed TOU savings
❌ No export payments

Could you do better by using smart tariffs and getting paid for export? Absolutely.
But we'd rather you outperform our projection than sell you a system using the most optimistic numbers we can find.

Realistic figures. Clear assumptions. Education before sales.

That's the SA Energy way. 💚💙

☀️ Three solar quotes… three completely different systems. Which one is right? 🤷‍♀️

You've decided to look into solar and battery storage, and you've done the sensible thing: you've got a few quotes.

Then the confusion starts…
One company recommends 10 panels.
Another says 14.
One recommends a large battery.
Another says you only need something smaller.
Different inverter sizes.
Different generation figures.
Different savings projections.

And, of course, somebody tells you it'll all “pay for itself in five years!” 😬
So how on earth do you compare them?

At SA Energy, we don't believe the answer is simply to choose the cheapest quote, the biggest battery or the company promising the largest savings.
A properly designed system should start with you and your home.

🏡 How much electricity do you actually use?
⏰ When do you use it?
☀️ What can your roof realistically generate?
🔋 How much battery storage could you actually make use of?
🚗 Are you planning an EV?
🌱 Could a heat pump be in your future?
💷 What are you ultimately trying to achieve?
Only then should we start talking about equipment.

Bigger isn't automatically better. And cheaper isn't automatically better either.
And here's something we think is really important:
If someone recommends a particular number of panels, battery capacity or inverter size, ask them why.

They should be able to explain their reasoning to you in normal, understandable language. You shouldn't need to become a solar engineer to buy solar.

But by the time you make your decision, you should understand what you're buying, why it's been designed that way and what you can realistically expect from it.

That's what we mean when we say education before sales.
No pressure. No one-size-fits-all packages. Just a system designed around the people who are actually going to use it.
