Now I can’t promise you super-sized breakfast cereal but, as a VA, it’s both my job and passion to do the little things to make others' lives easier.

Do you ever use PowerPoint? I have always dreaded the thought of using this software as I, like many others, have experienced Death-by-PowerPoint far too often! However, there are a few nice little features of this software which may lead you to give it a whirl!
📷 Do you want to remove a background from a photo? You can do this in Canva Pro but, what about if you don't want to upgrade? Head to the Picture Format tab in PowerPoint.
👩🏻‍🏫 Would you like to improve your presenting skills? in the Slide Show tab, select Rehearse with Coach for suggestions and analysis.
✍️ Need help in designing the slide? The built-in Designer uses AI to suggest options based on the information you are presenting.
🦻🏻 Subtitles can automatically be added to the presentation for increased accessibility.
🏞 An image can be cropped to numerous shapes, not just a square/rectangle.
⌨️ The built-in Dictation tool saves you from typing everything into the slide.
These are just a few of the nice features just waiting to be found with PowerPoint - let me know in the comments if I've missed out your favourite 🙏

Yesterday, I learnt a new skill!

This time, it wasn't anything to do with being a Virtual Assistant and helping clients - I went on a fab workshop run by Jack to learn how to make the most amazing bagels.

I wonder what I'll be having for lunch today 🤔 😊

At the weekend, I visited Battersea Power Station.

The transformation that has happened there is amazing. What was once a derelict shell is now a vibrant area for relaxing, working and living. It has taken many years and but I think everyone involved will agree that it has been worth it 😊

Think about your business...could it be transformed by working with a Virtual Assistant? Although your business is YOUR business, you don't have to do everything! By delegating some of the tasks that don't need your personal touch, you can focus on the the things that you want to do.

I never really know for sure what I'll be doing from one day to the next as a Virtual Assistant - this is one of the things I love best about my business!

Today, I am mainly dealing with the S's - reviewing my SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) to make sure they are a true reflection of my processes, updating SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) on a client's website and my old favourite....Spreadsheets.

Tomorrow, I think I'll be tidying up a Canva account for one of my clients and adding a page to a website.

Do you use PowerPoint? I found out a shortcut today that I didn't know existed so I thought I'd share....

When you're in Presenter Mode and you want the audience to listen rather than read the slide, you can press either B or . to make the screen black. W or , will turn the screen white. Repeating the keypress will display the slide again.

I have just returned from a lovely relaxing cruise to Scandinavia 🛳. Switching off is vital but, I love the fact that, as long as I have my laptop and good wifi, I can still help my clients with a few bits and pieces if they need me while I'm away 🙏.

Do you use Gmail? Are you like so many other people and have pages and pages of messages in your Inbox? If so, does that leave you feeling overwhelmed every time you check for new emails 🙈?
I have a few easy tips which could help you organise your Gmail inbox.....
📧 Create Multiple Inboxes - use this method to highlight the messages you need to respond to while keeping the "I'll read these someday" messages in their own special place.
🗂 Setup filters to label incoming mail automatically. Allocate a label for each client/project, label messages from your suppliers, filter for specific words (subject line or body) to group emails by subject
📦 Archive - this doesn't mean delete - it just removes messages from the Inbox to reduce day-to-day clutter. They'll still be under the labels you've given them and will be included in searches.
🫵 Activate Nudges - use the algorithm to help you be reminded of messages you may have forgotten to respond to. It will also give you a reminder to chase for responses from others.

If you use Canva, do you get a bit overwhelmed by all the designs in your account?
I have four easy steps you can take to tidy everything up.
1) Remove any unwanted designs and photos - you probably have loads of unfinished/unwanted designs lurking around. Also, think about the free templates you've downloaded - do you actually want them?
2) Rename the files so they actually mean something - how many "Untitled Designs" or "Copy of..." do you currently have?
3) Workout the best folder structure for you - I have Remotely Sorted, Personal & Clients - you can also have subfolders to organise further
4) Pop all your designs into the appropriate folder
You can then find everything in the Projects area - Easy 🙏

Word is a very powerful tool but, did you know that these short-cuts existed?
💡 Instead of deleting each character in a word, you can remove a whole word by using the Ctrl (or ⌘) with the backspace key to delete the whole word in one go.
💡 Rather than highlighting a word (or sentence) by dragging the cursor, double click to select a word - triple clicking will select the whole sentence.
💡 You don't have to bash the space bar repeatedly to start typing somewhere other than the top left corner of the page - double click where you like and type from there.
💡 If you would like to check your formatting but, don't have all the text available - type =lorem() to get 5 paragraphs of random text (far easier than just typing rubbish!)
