Prep is underway for one of the biggest events in our calendar. ✈️

The Farnborough Airshow lands ( 😏) in July.

Five days. Tens of thousands of visitors. One of the highest-profile aerospace and defence events on the global calendar, hosted right on our doorstep in Hampshire.

We've been part of the security operation behind it for years.

The exact details of what we do? Obviously we can't tell you too much. 🤐

What we can say is this. Events of this scale need security that's planned months out, not weeks. Briefings, accreditation, contingency layers, coordination with multiple agencies. The work that happens long before the first aircraft lifts off the runway.

It's the kind of contract a small management team can only hold onto by getting the details right, year after year.

Proud to be back on it for 2026. 👊

A lot goes into keeping an event like the Southwick Revival running smoothly. 🎖️

Most of it you won't see. That's intentional.

When hundreds of people arrive at a living history event in a Hampshire village, the security operation working around them is already hours into its day. Briefed. Positioned. Ready.

Here's what that actually looks like on the ground:

✅ Crowd flow management, keeping foot traffic moving safely around busy areas
✅ First aid trained officers on site throughout the event
✅ A visible, approachable presence so attendees feel safe, not surveilled
✅ De-escalation, if a situation needs handling before it becomes anything more
✅ Coordination with event organisers so nothing falls through the gaps

Events like this one draw big crowds to small spaces. The job is to make sure every person there has a good day, and that the people running the event can focus on delivering it.

We're on the ground this weekend. If you're heading to Southwick, you're in good hands. 👋

This weekend, Southwick Village turns back the clock. 🎖️

The Southwick Revival is one of the most extraordinary events on the South Coast calendar.

A full 1940s living history experience, set in the village that played a quiet but pivotal role in the D-Day landings. The Map Room at Southwick House. The underground tunnels at Fort Southwick. The encampments, the music, the motorcades.

If you haven't been, it's worth every minute.

The Blayde Security team will be on the ground across both days, helping keep the event running safely and smoothly behind the scenes. You're in good hands.

If you're heading down this weekend, come and say hello. 👋

We'll see you there.

After Tuesday's post, a few of you asked what we actually do at sites like West Wittering. 👀

Beyond the visible bits, a big part of the job is something called ingress and egress control. 🚪

In plain English. Managing who comes in and who goes out.

It's the layer of security that protects a site by making sure only the right people, vehicles, and credentials get through the gate. It's what stops a controlled environment from becoming an uncontrolled one.

The work involves:

✅Checking identification at entry points
✅Validating credentials against access lists
✅Logging movement in and out for accurate records
✅Monitoring exit points to maintain site integrity

It applies to construction sites, corporate premises, public events, education facilities, manufacturing plants.

Anywhere a site needs to know exactly who is on it at any given time.

If your business or site could use that layer of control, get in touch and we'll talk it through. 👇

Last weekend, West Wittering's booking system went down. 🌊

On a bank holiday. In good weather. At one of the busiest beaches on the South Coast.

Cars arriving with bookings the system couldn't verify. Cars arriving without bookings expecting to chance it.

A car park designed around a working system suddenly running on a broken one.

This is the bit of event planning nobody writes a contingency for.

The thing you didn't see coming.

Our team was on the ground managing the car park. So when the system went, we did what good security teams do. Kept conversations calm. Kept queues moving. Kept disappointed beach-goers from turning a frustrating morning into something worse.

You can't predict the curveball. What you can do is have people on site who handle it without the situation escalating.

That's the value of trained security. Not just presence. Calm under pressure when the plan stops working.

The first person back on site Tuesday shouldn't be the one who discovers something went wrong on Sunday night. 🚨

That's how most bank holiday incidents get reported.

Not in real time. On the Tuesday, when a manager walks in and realises the weekend was a lot longer than three days.

By that point, the trail is cold. The insurance claim starts later. The disruption to the working week is already locked in before the kettle's gone on.

Keyholding closes the gap.

A licensed officer on call, proper site checks, and a report waiting for you Tuesday morning rather than a discovery.

The next bank holiday isn't far off. Worth sorting before it arrives.

We can help. Get in touch and we’ll talk it through with you. 👊

72 hours.

That's how long most commercial premises sit empty over a bank holiday weekend. 🏢

For anyone watching a site, that's a long time.

👀Long enough to test a perimeter.

👀Long enough to come back a second night.

👀Long enough to move from opportunistic to planned.

A mobile patrol changes the calculation.

A marked vehicle arriving at unpredictable intervals through the night. Officers checking entry points and outbuildings. A visible presence that makes a site a worse bet than the one down the road.

It's a cost-effective layer of deterrence for the nights when your premises are quiet and your team is rightly at home.

Bank holiday weekends turn "it'll probably be fine" into the most expensive sentence in event planning. 🎪

Three day weekends draw bigger crowds than organisers predict. The weather lifts, plans change, and the headcount you projected on Wednesday looks very different by Saturday afternoon.

That's when things go wrong at once.

⚠️Parking overflows.
⚠️Queues form where there's no crowd control.
⚠️A medical incident happens & the nearest first aider is on the wrong side of the site.

Good event security plans for the day to deviate from the plan. Extra cover on standby.

Officers who've worked enough events to read a crowd before it tips.

There’s another bank holiday coming up in August.

Get in touch and get your event protected, properly. 👇

It's always good to know the work lands the way you hoped it would. 🙏

Blayde Group has worked with Caleb to provide event security, and close protection across his projects over the years.

"Blayde Group is #1 in my book. If you're in need of legit security services reach out to my friend Scott Griffiths. They are the best in the biz." ✅

Nothing more to add.

Just a thank you to Caleb for the kind words and the long-standing trust. 🙌

If you want a security partner who shows up the same way for one-off events as for ongoing contracts, get in touch. 👇

We sat down with a new client in Portsmouth recently to talk through their security setup. 🔍

Solid plan in most areas. But one thing stood out by its absence.

No concierge. No checkpoint at reception.

Anyone walking through the front door had a clear path to the building, the people inside it, and the information available. ⚠️

It's a gap that gets overlooked more often than it should. Manned reception isn't just a nice-to-have. It's the difference between a building that controls who enters it and a building that hopes nobody walks through who shouldn't.

A concierge service handles the people side of security before it becomes anyone else's problem.

Visitor vetting. Sign-in protocols. A trained, professional face at the first point of contact.

Confidential information stays behind the desk. Staff and facilities stay protected. 🛡️

The client hadn't realised it could be built straight into their plan as standard.

It can.

That's now sorted.

If your current setup has reception covered by a desk and nobody behind it, it's worth a conversation. 👇
