We just finished one of our largest drone survey projects to date; this time out in the Middle East. A challenging mix of photogrammetry, magnetometer and bathymetry survey in some very hot, dusty and windy conditions. There’s very little tidal range in the Persian Gulf so drones provided an indispensable means to survey these tricky shallow water sites.

Our most recent jaunt was out to the east coast to provide detailed pre-lay survey data for the landfall section of a new telecoms cable. Over the course of a few days during spring tides we collected:

1. Aerial lidar and photogrammetry to produce an ultra high-res DTM and ortho-imagery
2. Aerial magnetometry with radar altimeter terrain following
3. Aerial bathymetry to inform maggy coverage (i.e. to produce a dynamic coverage plot)
4. Handheld magnetometry for steep sand dunes where aerial mag wasn’t suitable/safe

Now to process everything!

In emergency situations, you can quickly and easily transition to hover or cruise in manual flight mode before switching back to continue your mission when safe to do so.

**Mission Critical**
This week we ran a training session of the Atmos Marlyn for a customer who needed a unit with both the Sony RX1-Rii and the Micasense Altum. Working closely with Atmos we were able to provide the training and ship the product within 6 days.
The customer, an international engineering company had previously had demonstrations of other VTOL fixed-wing UAV's but favoured the Marlyn, largely due to the wind resistance and stability for take-off and landing. Afterward, we processed some of the data to show how clear the imagery was ensuring that they could spot the small hazardous objects on the ground that they would be looking for.
