Hello ! I’m currently reviewing some contract structures and wanted to open up a discussion on a topic that often divides the dog care industry: night-only pet sitting and pop-ins only with no overnight care.

I’ve seen a rise in businesses offering "night-only" house sitting (e.g., 6pm to 8am), where a dog is then left unattended during the day while the owners are away, unless they book extra pop-in visits.

I am also seeing businesses offering 4-5 visits a day, and the dog remains alone for the entire day other than these visits.
For those who offer these services: How do you protect your business and manage the risk? Do you have strict liability limits in your contracts for those daytime hours when you aren’t on the clock?

For those who only offer full 24-hour care models (with capped alone-time): What made you choose that structure, and how do you communicate the value of that premium service to clients who just want overnight coverage?

Awkward Message Files: Part 1 🙈🐶

Alright, fellow dog walkers, groomers, and pet pros… I need to know I’m not alone here. What is the single most awkward conversation you’ve ever had to have with a client?

I’ll go first.
I went to collect a tiny Chihuahua yesterday. Super cute, total bundle of energy, happily prancing around the hallway tossing a little scrap of fabric in the air.

Naturally, I couldn't let him bring his "toy" with him, so I leaned down to gently trade it for a treat.
It was not a toy.
It was not a rag.
It was a pair of the owner's knickers. 🩲😳

I then had to send a text letting them know that there were a pair of knickers neatly folded at the bottom of the stairs. 🙈🙈🙈

How do you even recover from that? Do I change my identity? Move to a new town?
