A rare opportunity has arisen for a full-time Home / Show Groom to join a small, friendly and highly sought-after private yard with beautiful facilities in Leatherhead.
This is a lovely role that doesn’t become available very often within the industry and would suit an experienced, motivated groom looking for a long-term position within a professional, but genuinely friendly, environment.
The yard is small and intimate, with a select number of individual clients and multiple horses. Groom to horse ratio is high to allow time for detail and excellent standards. With a varied mix of disciplines and horses, no two days are quite the same, making this an interesting and rewarding role for someone who enjoys variety and takes real pride in their work.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about horses who is confident working both independently and as part of a small team.
The Role:
The position is varied and hands-on, with general yard management and day-to-day horse care at its heart. Duties will include:
• Yard management and organisation, including liaising with clients, vets, farriers, physios, etc.
• Day-to-day horse care, including feeding, turning out, grooming and tacking up for owners
• Lunging and exercising horses where required
• Show preparation and turnout
• Clipping
• Maintaining the highest standards of horse care and presentation
• Working closely with the team and clients to ensure the yard runs smoothly
• Attending both day and stay-away shows on an ad hoc basis as required, including plaiting and all show-care duties
Applicants with a strong dressage background or interest would be preferred, although we are open to candidates from a range of disciplines who have the right experience, attitude and approach.
The Team:
You will be joining a small, friendly team where everyone works together and chips in wherever needed. There is no hierarchy, we value people who are happy to get stuck in, take responsibility and support those around them.

The Package:
• 5-day working week, approximately 8 hours per day, with flexibility and a degree of give and take where required

Essential Requirements:
• Experience working within a professional equestrian yard/set-up
• Excellent standards of horse care and a willingness to always put the horse’s needs first
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
• HGV licence is essential as you will be required to travel to shows as needed
