West Sussex Archaeological Survey

West Sussex Archaeological Survey I am a local amateur archaeologist and historian surveying the 144 square miles around Ferring, West Sussex, between the rivers Arun and Adur.

I'm always looking for land to survey, whether allotment plot, garden, campsite, woodland or farmland. As my partner and I approach our ‘golden years’ I have decided to start one last project, to survey the region between the two principle rivers of West Sussex. This area has a very long record of human occupation and settlement, at least as far back as the middle Stone Age. I loved archaeology an

d old maps as a boy and the richness of West Sussex’s history has rekindled those childhood passions. The methods of this survey will be almost completely non-destructive, 99% of the land surveyed will be undisturbed. Most importantly of all, no land will be surveyed or disturbed without prior permission from the land owner.
