We’re incredibly proud to support the amazing work carried out by DART.

Several members of the Wakeley Tree Surgeons team have had the opportunity to deploy with DART, using their skills to support communities when they are needed most.

As a business, we fully support their involvement and continue to cover their wages while they are away on deployment. For us, it’s important that our staff are able to contribute to such a worthwhile cause without having to worry about the financial impact of taking time away from work.

The benefits also come back into our business. Working in challenging environments, often under significant pressure, gives our team invaluable experience. They return with stronger problem-solving skills, greater confidence, improved teamwork and an even better ability to make good decisions when circumstances are difficult.

We’re proud of the people who volunteer their time and skills, and proud to play a small part in supporting DART and the incredible work they do.

A great before and after example of how our sites are left.
Clean, safe and tidy even the stump has gone.
Monkey puzzles are notoriously tough to work on with their sharp spikes, although not the biggest we’ve ever done.

This is a 2–3 year Modern Apprenticeship in Trees & Timber, delivered through Skills Development Scotland, combining practical, on-the-job experience with recognised industry qualifications.

This week saw the completion of our Ash die back works for Amey on the A95 Keith to Grantown road.
Working through the night the team did an exceptional job, lots of complex logistical and ecological challenges to overcome.
Huge thanks to all the chainsaw operators, machine operators, mechanic, ecologists and management in seeing this through.
We’re very proud of doing what we do and the way we do it.

Today we held our annual Engagement Day at Wakeley Tree Surgeons — and it was one to remember.

The focus was simple: realistic training, real scenarios, real learning.

We ran a series of live simulations designed to reflect the environments our teams face every day. This included a staged road traffic collision with actors and realistic casualty effects, pushing our teams to respond under pressure. We also delivered a simulated electric line strike using flash bangs and smoke to recreate the hazards of working near live utilities.

Alongside the practical elements, we held important discussions around ecology — focusing on protected species, legal responsibilities, and how we can continue to carry out our work without causing disturbance to the environments we operate in.

To round off the day, teams took part in a tower-building challenge, and we showcased a live demonstration of the Magni Roto — highlighting the capabilities of modern equipment when used safely and effectively.

A big thank you to SSE plc for attending and supporting the day, and to everyone involved who fully committed, got stuck in, and made it a success.

Days like this reinforce what we stand for — safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
