Today’s featured Lot is No. 216, which is a set of documents relating to the Hi**er Jugend’s Gebeit 25, based in the Pfalz region. More specifically, they focus on the 1935 Reichs Party Day in September at Nuremberg.

The range of documents within this Lot warrant deeper investigation and we know that at least one of them names future Waffen-SS German Cross in Gold and Gold Wound Badge holder, Cladius Rupp.

A great set of interesting documents, secure them whilst available.

Today’s featured Lot(s) cover Lot 376 through to Lot 384, which all centre around the project to build 6x 50,000 litre fuel tanks at the Peenemünde test facility. The Lots show the correspondence back and forth between the facility itself and the contractors tasked with building the tanks. There is also a superb fold out schematic plan available of the tanks themselves.

Any documents relating to this rocket test facility, where the V1 and V2 weapons were developed and tested, are exceptionally rare; these Lots cover a very specific and important aspect of the development process.

A great chance to obtain rare documentation and something that would lead onto more research.

Today’s featured Lot is a Hand-signed photo of Bill Reid, V.C
Willaim Reid, VC, was a Scottish recipient of the Victoria Cross and he earned this award as a pilot in the Royal Air Force Bomber Command during WWII.

Born in Lanarkshire, he applied to join the RAF on the outbreak of war. After training, he was selected as a bomber pilot, and soon became a flying instructor himself. He was eventually given an operational posting, flying several raids before that on Düsseldorf, which led to the award of the VC. On a later raid he was shot down and became a prisoner of war in Germany. He left the RAF after the war.

On 19 November 2009 his VC was sold at auction for £384,000, a record for a VC awarded to a recipient from the United Kingdom.
