Folkestone’s restored Harbour Arm is a beautiful promenade out at sea with a World-class view.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It has evolved over a period of 200 years, originally built as the railway terminal for the Folkestone- Boulogne Ferry, later becoming a departure point for thousands of soldiers on their way to the Western Front. Passenger crossings resumed in 1946, before falling into dereliction for decades when the ferries stopped running in 2000.

Since 2014 Folkestone Harbour Arm has been re-imagined and repurposed as a place where people come to promenade, enjoying magnificent views, a wide choice of good food and drink, live music, arts events and other entertainment.

The Harbour Company needed a distinctive brand identity, signage and wayfinding to launch this exciting new venture. I worked as art director and lead creative on this project whilst working at Progress Agency. I worked closely with the Harbour Arm team designing an identity that could grow and evolve as the site grew. A bold colour palette, striking patterns and a street food, festival vibe was utilised across all channels of communication.

The branding was beautifully interpreted by the agencies (former) in-house digital design guru and built by the development team. Iconic signage was created in partnership with a prestigious typographic mural artist and their team. Social media templates and printed programmes of events provided further marketing support.
