There has been an important update for businesses with employees who use their own car or van for work travel.
For the 2026 to 2027 tax year, the approved mileage rate for cars and vans has increased to 55p per mile for the first 10,000 business miles. This is up from 45p per mile, which had been in place for 15 years.
This is the kind of payroll and expenses update that can easily be missed when you are busy running a business.
It may affect how mileage claims are reviewed, how expenses are communicated, and whether anything needs to be revisited from the start of the tax year.
At Chanonry, these are the details we manage alongside our clients. The business still stays involved, but the payroll side is handled behind the scenes so updates like this do not become another thing sitting heavily on your desk.
Have you reviewed how mileage claims are being handled in your business this tax year?
