Sometimes the best investment you can make isn’t money, it’s belief.

Our son has decided he wants to become a mechanic, so I wanted to show him what he’s working towards. Thanks to the amazing team at , he got to spend time around some incredible cars, ask plenty of questions, configure his dream Lamborghini and even experience a drive in one of the demonstrators.

It’s easy to tell children to dream big. It’s even better to help them believe those dreams are possible.

Thank you for making one young petrolhead’s day. We suspect he’ll be talking about this one for years. 🧡🏁

Every week I see brilliant businesses wasting time, money and energy because they’re following advice that sounds good but doesn’t actually grow a business.

Things like…

❌ Posting because it’s Tuesday.
❌ Chasing viral posts.
❌ Measuring success by likes.
❌ Relying entirely on social media.
❌ Letting websites gather dust.
❌ Marketing without a clear strategy.

None of these things are guaranteed to fail.

But they rarely build a business that lasts.

The businesses I see growing consistently are usually doing something much less exciting. They’re building trust. Creating useful content. Looking after their website. Growing an email list. Understanding their customers. Having a plan.

Marketing isn’t about shouting the loudest.

It’s about being found, understood and trusted.

A milestone I’m really proud of today.

I’ve officially achieved Chartered Marketer status with the Chartered Institute Marketing. 🎉

Marketing changes incredibly quickly, and I firmly believe that if I’m asking clients to trust my advice, I have a responsibility to keep learning, challenging myself and staying up to date.

This isn’t about collecting another certificate. It’s about making sure I’m giving the very best advice I can to the businesses I work with every day.

Thank you to all my wonderful clients who continually trust me with their businesses. Every new challenge teaches me something too.

Now... back to helping businesses be found, understood and trusted. 💜

Most small businesses spend a lot of time worrying about social media, SEO and advertising, and they’re all important but sometimes the thing that really changes everything is much simpler. One recommendation, one person mentioning your name in the right convo. That’s exactly how Steph Briggs Marekting began. Someone recommended me to a business owner who needed help with their marketing. Nearly 3 years later I’m still working with that client.

Every piece of work you do builds your reputation. People recommend people they trust. Don’t underestimate the power of doing good work, making life easier for your clients and staying in touch with your network. You never know who’s talking about you when you’re not in the room. If someone comes to mind when you’re reading this, why not send them a recommendation or write a review for them today? It might make more of a difference than you realise.

A little bit about the person behind Steph Briggs Marketing… a few things you might not know…

✨ I have a degree in Jewellery & Silversmithing.
✨ Before marketing, I owned an interiors & gift shop for 10 years.
✨ I swapped shop life for Scotland, where I now live by the sea.
✨ When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me on a horse, wild swimming or with a mug of coffee (or a builders’ tea after lunch! Or 🍷 with dinner).

Owning my own shop taught me something no textbook ever could: running a small business is hard.

I understand what it’s feels like when you’re juggling customers, invoices, family life and wondering how on earth you’re supposed to “find time to post on Instagram.”

Marketing isn’t an optional extra. It’s your shop window, your first impression and often the reason someone chooses you over a competitor.

I’m so glad you’re here, whether you’ve followed me for years or you’ve just stumbled across my page.

Are you a fellow small business owner? If so, tell me:

📍 Where are you based?
💼 What do you do?

Life is too short to wait until you feel ready. Ready is a funny concept.

Most people think confidence comes first… then they’ll launch the business, post the video, raise their prices, pitch themselves for that speaking event or finally press publish. But that’s rarely how it works.

Confidence is built by doing. You need to get comfortable being uncomfortable. The first reel won’t be perfect. The first networking event might feel awkward. The first workshop might not sell out. The first pitch might get a “no.”

Do it anyway, because every time you take action, you learn something. You build resilience. You get better.

Action will always beat perfection.

✨ So here’s your little nudge for this week…

What’s the one thing you’ve been putting off because you don’t feel “ready”?

Drop it in the comments. I’d love to know what you’re committing to this week, and maybe this is the accountability you needed.

Your website is your shop floor. I know that sounds a bit dramatic.

But if you run a retail business, your website needs to do far more than sitting there looking pretty. It is helping people decide whether to trust you, browse with confidence and buy.

Your homepage is your window display.
Your navigation is your shop layout.
Your product pages are your sales assistant.
Your checkout is your till.

Just like in a physical shop, if something feels confusing, cluttered or awkward, customers quietly wander off.

I’ve written a blog about ecommerce retail design and why a good online shop has to do more than look lovely. It needs to guide people, answer their questions, build trust and make buying feel easy. This is key for for independent retailers, where your website is often the first proper impression someone gets of your business.

Have a read here:

Good ecommerce design is more than a pretty website. Learn how retail thinking, customer journey and trust help turn browsers into buyers online.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of representing The Retail Champion on a panel for The Future of UK High Streets, hosted by Public Policy Exchange.

It was an interesting discussion, with different voices looking at what our high streets need now and what needs to change next.

My bit was very much from the independent retail and marketing side of things.

Because for me, high street visibility doesn’t just start when someone walks past your shop window.

It starts when they Google you.
When they check your opening hours.
When they look at your website.
When they read your reviews.
When they decide whether it’s worth making the trip.

That’s why I talk so much about businesses needing to be:

Found.
Understood.
Trusted.

Before, during and after someone visits.

There are big challenges facing UK high streets, but I came away feeling encouraged. There are some brilliant people asking better questions and looking for practical ways to support retailers, councils, BIDs and local communities.

And, as always, my view is this:

Retailers don’t need more vague advice.

They need bespoke, practical support that fits the reality of running a business.

Very flattered to have been asked to contribute, and looking forward to seeing where the conversation goes next.

✨ A fresh new look for ✨

We’ve been quietly working behind the scenes on a brand new Shopify website for Bourne Valley Beauty and it’s now live.

This wasn’t just a visual refresh.

The whole site has been reworked to create a smoother, clearer experience for customers from the moment they land on the homepage right through to checkout.

New layout. Fresh new branding and content. Clearer navigation. Improved copy. Better customer journey.

Everything designed to help customers quickly understand the products, trust the brand and shop with confidence.

A website shouldn’t just look pretty. It needs to work hard for the business too.

That means:
• making products easier to find
• helping customers make decisions
• improving visibility on Google
• and creating a shopping experience that feels enjoyable

It’s been a pleasure working on this one and seeing the transformation come together. Thank you for trusting me Sarah 💕

News from behind the scenes at Steph Briggs Marketing…

I’m now officially certified by the Association of Business Mentors and part of the Enterprise Nation Help to Grow scheme 🙌

Now, if you’re thinking “does this mean she’s gone all serious on us?”… absolutely not.

What it does mean is I’ve added another string to my bow. Alongside marketing strategy and copy, I can now support business owners in a more structured, bigger-picture way. The kind of conversations that go beyond “can you just rewrite this page?” and get into where your business is actually heading.

Truthfully, I’ve been doing elements of this for years. The chats, the problem-solving, the “hang on, let’s take a step back here” moments. This just formalises it and gives it a proper framework.

Being part of Help to Grow means I get to work with even more brilliant small businesses who are ready to grow, but might need a bit of clarity, confidence or a nudge in the right direction.

So yes… still your go-to for sparkling copy, content and marketing. Just with a bit more strategy (and a fancy certificate to prove it).

If you’re curious about mentoring or the Help to Grow scheme, pop me a message.
