Diversity Scotland Equity | Inclusion | Belonging

09/06/2026

There’s a significant police operation in Glasgow city centre tonight, and reports of unrest in parts of Scotland after events in Belfast. Police Scotland are asking people to stay away from the area.

At Diversity Scotland, we’re thinking about everyone caught up in this, and particularly people from minoritised ethnic communities who’ll be feeling unsafe right now. That fear is real, and frightening people is often the main point of this kind of violence.

Everyone has the right to live in safety and dignity, whatever their background, nationality, ethnicity, race, or immigration status. Racism and intimidation don’t belong in our communities, and they don’t speak for us.

If you’re out tonight, look after each other, be careful what you share while so much is still unverified, and check in on anyone who might be scared.

Scotland’s Home of the Year celebrates the most unique, quirky and distinctive homes across the country. No matter the size or budget, if your home has something special about it, the team want to hear from you.

They’re particularly keen to hear from people from seldom heard communities and under-represented groups, and as an organisation whose work is built on ensuring every voice is included at every level, we think that matters.

Apply via the link in our bio, or head directly to the Scotland’s Home of the Year page to find out more.

📍 Must be your primary residence.

The graphic includes an application link, a QR code, and contact details for the production team. A note states that submitted homes must be the applicant’s primary residence, and that applications are actively encouraged from individuals from diverse and under-represented backgrounds. What a brilliant day had with the wonderful folks at .musica yesterday. 🎵

It’s always a privilege to work with organisations whose values run deep, and Oi Musica are exactly that kind of team.

Brilliant conversations, real engagement, and a room full of people who clearly care.

Their commitment to inclusive music education is genuinely inspiring, and it was a joy to spend the day exploring equity and inclusion together.

That’s exactly why we do this.

Thank you to everyone who showed up with such openness, honesty and good humour. It’s what makes this work worthwhile.

is grateful to be part of your inclusion journey, Oi Musica. 🎶

Last night, a Champions League match was halted after Vinícius Jr reported alleged racist abuse from an opposing player. UEFA’s anti-racism protocol was activated, and play resumed 10 minutes later. The accused player remained on the pitch.

Vinícius described it as a poorly executed process that “served no purpose.”

UEFA introduced its anti-racism protocol in 2009.

Seventeen years on, and the player reporting the abuse is the one who got booked, while the match carried on around him.

This is exactly what implementation failure looks like in real time.❗️

And it’s not just a football problem. At it’s a pattern we see across every sector we work in, not just in sport.

Organisations write policies, publish protocols, and signal commitments. But when the live moment arrives, the system either works or it doesn’t, and too often, the person who raises the concern ends up more exposed than protected. 🤷‍♀️

A protocol that doesn’t function under pressure isn’t a protocol. It’s just a piece of paper.

If your organisation has policies on racism or harassment, when were they last stress-tested in practice?

And who carried the risk when they were used?

Today is National Q***r Students Day, and our leader has written a letter to their former student self as part of campaign.

Tony’s letter reflects on growing up during a time when the law was still catching up, and the uneven way that progress and belonging can arrive.
