Maximizing your time as an International Student:
Most international students are fixated on part-time jobs during their spare time. While that is good for acquiring vital skills, however there are other activities students can take advantage of to broaden their experience of life in the UK.

1. Visiting Outside Cities: When students want time away from the cities, the lush, green countryside of the UK offers the perfect escape from urban distractions.
They can enjoy hill walking and stunning views in the Cairngorms in Scotland, the Lake District and Peak District in England, or the Welsh Brecon Beacons.

2. Discover Europe: Students can easily and inexpensively travel to other European countries for education or pleasure to make the most of their spare time.
It’s never been easier to travel around the UK and continental Europe. Thanks to the Channel Tunnel, they can board a Eurostar train in London and be in Paris or Brussels in a few hours.
Frequent, cheap and efficient air services also connect major UK cities with many European destinations. In just over an hour, you could fly from Manchester to Amsterdam, Cardiff to Paris or Edinburgh to Dublin.

3. Volunteering: Volunteering for Charities, associations, etc can be very vital in expanding your social network which can be beneficial to your career to gain exposure.

As an international student, one of the best ways to maximize your educational investment is by choosing a course of study within the skills shortage occupation. You may be asking what is skills shortage occupation. Occupations that are classified as "Skills shortage" basically means areas of high skill demand with few occupations.
An area of study that is pro-Skill Shortage would increase your chances of getting a job much faster than your peers. Click on the link below to view areas of specializations with fewer skills.
