If you didn't document it, it didn't happen! A quick chat about a lateness or a rude comment or a silly mistake.

As of 1st Jan 2027 those employees with 6 months or more service who are dismissed can make a claim for unfair dismissal!

Yes - it's one of the biggest legislation changes we've seen in a generation and if you're not prepared you could find out the hard way.

You need: structured hiring processes, Incredible onboarding, monthly reviews, 4 month probation periods and clear guidelines of what you expect from your team!

Without these and if you decide to let someone go who has the service - it could get expensive!

Get ready for this one.... Unfair dismissal eligibility is reducing to 6 retrospectively from January 2027!

This means recruitment and hiring decisions you make now could be affected by this legislation change.

It will be that much more risky to dismiss someone with 6 months or more service by 1st Jan if you don't have HR support on place.
