Babcock selected AMP Power Protection to supply the next generation of UPS for the Type 31 Frigate Programme.

AMP Power Protection (Part of the AMP Group) are pleased to announce that they have been selected to supply the next generation of Universal Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) to support and protect the Type 31 Frigates.

Babcock provided the outline specification and requirements, this allowed AMP Power to select the best technical and commercial COTS products available, and put together a UPS Power Package to meet the requirements

Delivery of the equipment for the five ships started mid-2022 and will complete in 2027, future phases and logistics support packages may follow.

We have designed and supplied a Power Protection System that will ensure that the platform will operate safely, effectively, efficiently and continuously within the battlespace environment ensuring the safety and effectiveness of our Royal Navy Personnel. The UPS system was designed professionally to ensure we met all the Babcock requirements, the end result is a very flexible UPS Power Protection solution that meets or exceeds the current and future needs.”

Congratulations to Martin Shiels, a Strategic Procurement Officer here at AMP Procurement.
Martin set himself a challenge to run 3-5k every day in June in aid of Alzheimer’s Scotland.

Martin said… ”Well its done! I set out to run every single day for the month of June and I did it. I wanted to achieve 100km over the 30 days and I’ve managed to smash it by hitting 132km.
This charity is very close to my heart as my Popa Friel sadly passed away with this disease. I wanted to challenge myself and raise as much funds as possible to help support this charity.
Absolutely delighted to have it finished, one of the toughest things I have ever done, not only physically but mentally too.
Thank you to everyone who has donated, the total stands at just over £1300 - really appreciate it but for now it’s time to rest with a well earned cold pint of beer!”
