In a lot of the sales teams we work with, performance doesn’t dip suddenly, it drifts when leadership decisions stop being clear or consistent.

When that happens, teams often try to fix skills or process. But more often, the real gap is clarity: who owns decisions, what ‘good’ looks like, and how direction gets reinforced.

This really matters! Research shows managers account for around 70% of the variance in employee engagement, which directly affects confidence and performance.

That’s exactly the gap Your Sales Director is designed to fill.

Not to replace your team, but to bring experienced sales leadership, clear decision-making, and focus when things start to drift.

When direction is clear, performance tends to follow.

Most businesses know whether sales are up or down.

The harder bit is knowing why.

Revenue is useful, of course it is! But on its own, it only tells you what has already happened. It won’t always show you if your leads are getting better, your follow up is slipping, your sales cycle is getting longer, or your team needs more support to move opportunities forward.

That’s usually where the better conversations start.

When you understand what is happening beneath the surface, you can stop guessing and start working on the right things.

Keep an eye on revenue, just don’t let it be the only number in the room.

Sales Club Glasgow beat Edinburgh by 64% last month.

Not that we’re making it a competition (except we absolutely are).

Both cities are back this Friday, with one topic worth showing up for:
How people see you before they buy from you 🧐

We’ll be covering perception, positioning, confidence and credibility, and why the sales conversation often starts long before anyone books a call.

So, … can you keep the crown?

… are you letting that stand?

A lot of the sales challenges we talk about don’t exist in isolation.

Lack of clarity, inconsistent leadership, skills gaps and sales performance not where it needs to be.

From the work Davie and Peter. do with different sales teams, it’s clear most businesses don’t need one fix. They need the right kind of support, at the right point.

That’s why Sales Geek doesn’t do one-size-fits-all, and depending on what’s actually going on, that might look like:

🟡 Your Sales Director, when you need to optimise structure, direction, and ownership

🔵 Your Sales Trainer, when teams need sharper skills grounded in real experience

🟠 Sales Mentoring, when confidence, decision-making, or leadership capability needs strengthening

Or a combination that evolves as the business does. Different problems requrie different levers.

If something in your sales setup feels strained but you’re not sure what would actually help most, a short conversation usually brings clarity.

In sales, objections are inevitable.

Rather than viewing them as setbacks, treat them as opportunities to further understand and address your client’s concerns. Listen carefully, respond respectfully, and know when to back off ✋

Mastering the delicate balance of when to push and when to retreat can help preserve relationships, prevent Ghosting and potentially convert future opportunities.
