Most businesses spend a great deal of time thinking about how they sell.

Far fewer think properly about how they buy.

Yet the suppliers you choose and the way you negotiate with them can affect your costs, quality, time and reputation.

A low price may look attractive, but does it represent the best overall value?

And when you enter a negotiation, how much opportunity are you leaving on the table because you have not prepared properly or asked the right questions?

In four days, Shona Motherwell of The Independent Buying Group will put those questions to the test at PBN Glasgow.

The Negotiation Games: Supplier Negotiations, From Theory into Practice

This will be a practical and interactive session, with attendees working in teams as buyers and suppliers. Each side will have its own priorities, objectives and information, and the outcome may depend on what they discover during the negotiation.

It promises an engaging way to explore a part of business that can significantly affect the bottom line.

TONIGHT IS PBN GLASGOW NIGHT.

Before we open the doors, let’s start the networking here.

If you’re joining us tonight, introduce yourself in the comments. Tell us what you do and what kind of connection would be useful to you.

There may already be someone in the room who can make that introduction.

From 5.30pm, The Lantern Room at Glasgow Caledonian University will once again bring together business owners, entrepreneurs and professionals from across the local business community.

Our guest speaker is Rhys Collings from RiseCross.

Rhys will be sharing practical insight into local SEO, Google Maps, lead generation and online advertising, particularly useful for any business that relies on being found by local customers.

But the speaker is only part of the evening.

The real strength of PBN Glasgow is the room: new faces alongside familiar ones, proper conversations rather than hard sells, and introductions that can lead somewhere.

If you’ve attended before, we’re looking forward to welcoming you back.

If tonight will be your first event, or you’re coming on your own, let us know in the comments and we’ll make sure you’re made welcome.

There is still time to join us.

TOMORROW NIGHT: PBN GLASGOW

This is your final nudge.

If you’ve been seeing our posts, thinking about coming along, and telling yourself you’ll book later, now is the time to secure your place.

Tomorrow evening, we’ll be back at Glasgow Caledonian University for another PBN Glasgow event.

Our guest speaker, Rhys Collings from RiseCross, will be sharing practical insight into local SEO, Google Maps, lead generation and how to make your online marketing deliver a genuine return.

But, as always, the speaker is only part of the evening.

PBN Glasgow is about getting good people into the same room, creating genuine conversations and making introductions that can lead somewhere.

The numbers have continued to grow each month, and we’re looking forward to welcoming another strong room tomorrow night.

If you’re planning to join us, please book today rather than leaving it until the last minute.

Tuesday is more than PBN Glasgow night.

It is also Results Day for young people across Scotland.

For some, the results will confirm the path they had planned.

For others, they may lead to a slightly different conversation about what comes next.

Qualifications matter, but there is no single route to building a successful career or business.

Some young people already know they would like to start something of their own. Others may simply be interested in business but have no idea where to begin, who to speak to or what opportunities might be available to them.

That is one of the reasons we want PBN Glasgow to be accessible to the next generation of business owners and entrepreneurs.

Young entrepreneurs who are under 25 or at the beginning of their business journey can attend PBN Glasgow free of charge.

This Tuesday, they will have the opportunity to hear practical insight from Rhys Collings of RiseCross on local SEO, Google Maps, lead generation and online advertising.

More importantly, they will be able to meet and learn from the business owners and professionals already in the room.

If there is a young person in your family, team or wider network who has an interest in business, please share this with them.

Results Day may help decide someone’s next step.

The rooms they choose to walk into afterwards could help shape everything that follows.

NEVER BEEN TO PBN GLASGOW BEFORE?

With only three days to go until our next event, there may be a few people who have seen the posts, considered booking and then wondered what it is actually like to walk into the room for the first time.

The honest answer is that you do not need to know anyone.

You do not need a perfectly rehearsed introduction.

And you certainly do not need to be a regular networker.

Arrive from 5.30 pm, grab some refreshments and start with a few relaxed conversations before the speaker session begins at 6.00 pm.

We welcome new faces every month and will make sure anyone attending for the first time is introduced, included and made to feel part of the room.

On Tuesday, Rhys Collings from RiseCross will be sharing practical insight into local SEO, Google visibility, lead generation and making your marketing deliver a genuine return.

There will also be plenty of time before and after Rhys’s session to meet the growing community of business owners and professionals attending PBN Glasgow.

If you have been thinking about joining us, this is your nudge.

Coming on your own? That is absolutely fine. Send us a message beforehand, and we’ll look out for you when you arrive.

He’ll be sharing practical, actionable insights into local SEO, Google visibility, Meta advertising, and what is working for businesses right now.

There will also be plenty of time to meet and connect with the growing community of business owners and professionals attending PBN Glasgow each month.

When did you last Google your own business?

Not by searching for the company name.

Try searching for the service you provide in the area you cover.

Does your business appear?

Are your competitors showing above you?

Can potential customers easily find the right information, reviews and contact details?

For many local businesses, Google and Google Maps are where the buying decision begins, but it isn’t always obvious why some businesses are being found, and others are not.

In just six days, Rhys Collings from RiseCross will be joining us at PBN Glasgow to share practical insight into local SEO, Google Maps visibility, lead generation and making your advertising deliver a measurable return.

It should be a valuable session for any business that relies on local enquiries and wants to understand how to become more visible online.

Of course, there will also be plenty of time to meet the growing community of business owners and professionals already coming together at PBN Glasgow each month.

ONE WEEK TO GO UNTIL PBN GLASGOW

This time next week, we’ll be back at Glasgow Caledonian University for our next PBN Glasgow event.

Our guest speaker will be Rhys Collings from RiseCross, who specialises in local SEO and lead generation for service-based businesses.

Rhys will be sharing practical insight into:

• Improving your visibility on Google
• Making better use of Google Maps and local SEO
• Generating more of the right enquiries
• Using Google and Meta advertising effectively
• Understanding whether your marketing is delivering a genuine return

It should be a particularly useful session for any business that relies on local visibility and wants its marketing to work harder.

Of course, the speaker is only part of the evening.

The real strength of PBN Glasgow is the room itself, the conversations, introductions and opportunities that develop when business owners and professionals come together.

Numbers have continued to grow each month, so we’d encourage anyone planning to join us to book early.

The power of PBN Glasgow is in the room.

Yes, we’re looking forward to welcoming Rhys Collings from RiseCross as our guest speaker on Tuesday 4th August, where he’ll be sharing practical insight around local SEO, Google Maps visibility and lead generation.

But the real value of PBN Glasgow is what happens around the room.

It’s the conversations before the speaker starts.

It’s the introductions that lead to new opportunities.

It’s the business owners, professionals and guests sharing ideas, challenges, referrals and support.

It’s the chance to meet people you may not otherwise cross paths with.

Each month, the room has continued to grow, and it’s been brilliant to see the energy building at PBN Glasgow.

The photo below is from last month’s event and if you were in the room, feel free to tag yourself in the comments.

Our next event takes place on Tuesday 4th August at Glasgow Caledonian University, and we’d encourage anyone thinking of coming along to book early.
