SGL Security is the largest employer of door supervisors in the UK.

The increasing choice of available leisure facilities coupled with a tightening of the economy means that operators are competing harder for their market share. In order to gain an edge on their rivals, operators place great importance on creating the right first impressions and realise how vital it is to encourage customers and patrons to keep coming back. Engaging the right security provider is essential to promote the right image as well as providing a safe and welcoming environment for staff and end users. SGL is SecuriGroup’s specialist brand for the provision of leisure related security and is the largest employer of SIA licensed door supervisors in the UK.

Think you know what a year at the OVO Hydro looks like? 👀

We’ve crunched the numbers, from our busiest month and biggest event team to the people who clocked up the most shifts.

SGL at the OVO Hydro: Year One Wrapped.

A historic night in Paisley ⚽

A near sell-out crowd, a huge World Cup semi-final play-off and a landmark moment for Scottish football, hosted by our long-standing client, St Mirren FC.

As Scotland took on Czechia last night, supporters were able to enjoy alcohol from their seats for the first time in 45 years.

With a big crowd and a new matchday experience came an important role for our SGL team: helping everyone enjoy the occasion safely.

From creating a warm welcome to supporting a positive atmosphere across the stadium, our team was there from first arrival to final whistle, leaving fans to focus on the football.

And what a result. A brilliant 3-2 win for the Scotland Women’s team 🙌

Proud to have played our part in a landmark night for Scottish football.

Two nominations. One thing in common: our people. 🏆

We’re delighted to see our people recognised at this year’s The Security & Fire Awards for Excellence:

⭐ Topgolf Watford – Team of the Year
⭐ Connor Seal – Manager of the Year

A brilliant moment of recognition for the people behind SGL 👏

147 events. 34,000+ shifts. More than 750 team members. One year at the OVO Hydro.

This month marks one year since SGL began delivering security at one of Scotland’s most iconic entertainment venues.

And it’s been quite a year.

🎤 94 concerts
🏟️ 16 sporting events
🎭 17 stage shows
😆 11 comedy events
➕ Conferences and sponsor events

Every event brings something different, from the size of the team needed to the demands on the night. Behind them is a huge collective effort, from the SGL teams working at the venue to the people supporting planning, recruitment, training, scheduling and delivery.

The first year has also included the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, when the OVO Hydro became part of an international multi-sport event while its wider events calendar continued around it.

The numbers tell one part of the story. The people and partnership behind them tell the rest.

A huge thank you to everyone across SGL, SecuriGroup and the wider SEC team who has played a part in the past 12 months.

Here’s to year two 👏

Everyone deserves to feel safe on a night out.

That’s why we’re proud to support Stamp Out Spiking.

With our door supervisors working across pubs, entertainment venues and nightlife spaces, helping people feel safe while they enjoy their night is a big part of what we do.

We’re proud to support a cause that shares that same goal.

🏇 Three days. One of Scotland’s biggest racing fixtures. One brilliant SGL team.

It was great to be back at Ayr Racecourse last week providing security across the Ayr Gold Cup Festival.

From Opening Day and Ladies Day through to the main event on Saturday, the venue welcomed racegoers for three packed days of racing and entertainment.

A massive thank you to our SGL team for their hard work throughout the festival 👏

Another major event proudly supported by SGL.

When Topgolf Watford needed to turn its security operation around, SGL delivered a fresh approach built on stronger leadership, accountability and partnership working.

Eight months later, the results speak for themselves:

✅ Improved security performance
✅ Stronger relationships with venue management
✅ Better customer experience
✅ 4/4 assessment scores across all areas reviewed

Proof that the right door team can do far more than provide security. They can help make the whole venue stronger.

✈️ Thousands of visitors. Incredible flying displays. One fantastic weekend at the International Ayr Show.

While the crowds looked to the skies, our team was working behind the scenes to help keep the event running smoothly.

From access control and crowd management to supporting the wider event operation, they played an important role in helping deliver the show across a busy weekend on Ayr's coastline.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in delivering another safe and successful International Ayr Show 👏
